It IS a gorgeous snake, the only one I could ever click with. Named mine Coral, to go along with the whole "jewel" theme of her pets.
As for names:
Two gemstones that spring to mind: Garnet and Ruby.
Flowers: Poppy, Rose, Hibiscus, Lobelia, Peony, Geranium, Tulip, Azalea, Coleus, Salvia and Amaranth.
Colours: Vermillion and Crimson.
Food: Cherry, Berry, Marmalade, Jam, Strawberry, Raspberry, Cranberry.
Ok, running out of ideas now...

Add another color to that list: Scarlet

Can't
believe I forgot the name of my favourite character in Gone With the Wind! Maybe it's because I no longer think of it as a colour?
If you want Scarlet, which I love by the way, but don't like the obvious colour-reference, you can always go for Scarlett, a la Gone With the Wind (if you're a fan, like me. And if the name isn't reserved, of course.)!
Hah, Cialbi, my husband is going to hate you tonight. I'm ill with the flu, and want to watch a film tonight...guess which one I'll be picking?

I named my red fox Cinnabar, a red mercury ore. Kinnabari in the original Greek--flows a little better, maybe?
Carnelian is a red semi-precious gem.
The Burmese ruby is one of the largest rubies in the world, and makes me think of the Burmese python snake. So Burma?

Nice ideas, gormanghaste, but keep in mind that many people associate the word Burma with the brutal military junta that has been in power there for decades

Well, Burmese mostly makes me think of the beautiful cat breed
I would think the name Myanmar would be more associated with the current government, anyway.

Nothing cathching on yet
After my husband pointed out to me, that he think it would be a gay snake if it were a male, its now a female.. though i DONT think he is correct, but if i make it a male, he will never stop teasing me
So female names..
Im soo in love with this color
Reminds me of a Ruby, which in danish is Rubin... but ive tried every possible combination and it doenst sound rigth ><

If you think he feels male to you, ignore your husband's teasing. Besides, what's wrong with a gay snake?
Have you tried Rubeus?
Also, versions of Ruby in different languages, in case you haven't come across them yourself:
- Robi
- Rubiin
- Rubi
- Errubi
- Rubiini
- Rubis
- Carbunculus
- Rubinas
- Rubins
- Robijn
- Yakut

Bijou is a female French name that means 'jewel'. It's also used in-game to denote troll artifacts, and I associate trolls with snakes.

My red (albeit different skin) Serpent is called Sanguis, which means Blood in Latin. Cruor would be the kind of blood coming from a wound.
Corundum would be a jewel that can be pretty much any color.. Rubiini is Ruby in Finnish. Spinel is another gem that can be red, as well as Clinohumite and Beryl.

The name I have picked out for my Terropene, when I finally get her!
Bijou is great, Jewel is unfortunately reserved. Gem is nice, and could work as a male name as well. Also, Gemma is a girl's name, but means jewel in Latin. Jemma is a version of it.

By Jewel being 'reserved', Mozag means that any pet name with the word Jewel in it will get rejected. So, you'll have to settle for Juvel.
As for coming up with a 'compound name', what came to mind was Juvelscale or Juvelback (a play on the diamondback rattlesnake).

Bella/bello. Beautiful in Italian.
And yes, there are red diamonds. I believe diamonds come in a variety of colours, and, unless I am much mistaken, are also rarer than the normal white ones. I also think I read somewhere that red ones are very highly sought after. Not certain, so don't quote me on this though!

There are 'blood diamonds', but they don't get their name from their color

I imagine that, with the right impurities, you could have a red diamond. *searches* Apparently red diamonds do exist, but are super-rare. Can't get them by introducing impurities, but by having the crystal lattice itself be deformed

Hmm rarely and high prised

seams to fit the serpent.. now to choose which version to name it

BloodDiamond
hmmm cant come up with more... have to decide at some point lol
