Taming adventures as soon as you can tame?

Do we all do this? Have you done this? Hit 10 and go right for the most forsaken pet in an area 2903482390 miles away from home?
I do. And I love it.
Currently doing it on my third hunter. As soon as I could tame and was the right level I went for the
Skitterweb Matriarch (need I say it, LOVE her skin. Amazing pet in pvp.). Around the same area but a bit higher level I got Ressan the Needler, and yesterday I went for one of the red spiked raptors in Echo isles. Btw, I'm a draenei so you can imagine the travel

Worth it though.
So do you guys do it? Just for the thrill of having something different around? Cuz I love having a spiked raptor with me in bgs while all the rest have the brown Redridge fox. Teehee!

I've done that with my hunter when he was level 10. I as a draenei walked all the way from the starting area to the BE starting area to get my hand on a lynx. Other low level people would constantly message me where I got that

I did it! Right when BC first came out and the new lynx skins became available. I hauled my level 10 dwarf butt all the way from Ironforge out into Blood Elf territory for one of those pretty orange lynxes.
Man, I loved that cat.

I just did this with my Core Puppy.. dinged 69, and flew alllllllll the way back to Azuremyst Isle (from Blade's Edge Mountains!) to get him. :]

But of course! My blood elf on Nesingwary is planning on getting Shadowclaw as soon as I hit 13, and my night elf alt has been eyeing those blue demon dogs in Tirisfal.

Naturally! This is a bigger high for me than going after rares specifically. I don't do it to get noticed by others though, I just find I'm very happy when a skin I want for the particular hunter happens to be in hostile territory a long way away! Just this morning I finished my long run from Ironforge to Eversong Woods on my Dwarf. I died 25 times, and my husband took pity on me an offered to help me get there, but I refused and stuck it out. All worth it for my pretty dragonhawk, Mary!
And like you, Samarachan, I've had a Worgen run to Tirisfal for that very same spider and later for Ressan. Also to Silverpine for a diseased bear.
Others as well, but I wrote about all this in another post yesterday, so perhaps I'll spare you all this once.

My moo cow hunter... as soon as she hit level 10 went on a long LONG nakid corps run all the way from Undercity to the frozen lands of Dun Morogh to tame Timber, who she still has by her side and will keep by her side. She also REPEATED that same run to tame Bjarn, the white bear once she hit lv 13.
Also while still at a low level at the time, when I heard that Duskstalker was changing skins and becoming white spotted saber mount model... my cow raced out there and corps ran through the night elf city to the lands of Teldrassil (BEFORE cata) to tame that pretty kitty.

I had a draenei brave Howling Fjord for the crow.
My favorite has to be my Nesingwary hunter's cat. She went all the way to NE starter zone to pick up Maurice, your plain old average black kitty with gray and white stripes. Not the Moonstalker model blue/white but what Shadowclaw used to look like.
Maurice is a smooth talking, street smart cat that can talk because he had a run-in with a mage and a few rats.
If you get the reference, then you're amazing to me.

I WAS actually considering it. But I had my share of reading and looking at it, and decided not to. Seems it's still a buggy pet, didn't wanna take risks with it. Plus the skin is kinda...eh
Glad to see you all sharing stories

I to as a level 10 horde huntress went to Dun Morogh to tame Timber. I've also as a horde trekked to Ashenvale to tame the Clutchmother, Shadowclaw and Ghostsaber.
As ally I've made the trek to the Barrens at low levels to get Snort and even as a brave level 10 ally nelf huntress made the brave trek to Durotar for a Bloodtalon raptor.
To me those treks are not only but so worth it and I'll do it again in a heart beat.

Aloicious is my character for doing this. His stable consists of one pet from *every* newbie pool in the game. Spider from the Undead, snow leopard from the Gnome, red lynx from the Blood Elf, wolf from dwarf, worg from human, grey scorpid from orc, red raptor from troll, plainstrider from tauren, and yellow boar from night elf. I also have a seagull from Tol Barad. Grabbed a couple other 'fun pets' while I was in enemy territory, too.
Hmmmm. I haven't got one of those daggercap hawks. I might have to consider that while I'm at it.

yeah i have done this quite a bit.... come to think of it its been like that for almost every pet. It all started when Sylvia was lvl 15 and i FINALY figured out where i could get a raptor. thus a walked all the way from darkshore to the barrens. I didnt know my way around so i got ganked by demons, ran in to horde outposts and got ganked by guards, ganked by players after i got ganked by guards, then whent to far and wandered in to Azshara, jumped into the river and swam in to Org, almost died again..... but it was worth it i got my raptor! I made the mistake of setting my hearth to ratchet though and ended up having to walk back to darkshrore at lvl 20 to get my ghost saber... ./sigh the noob days.
also did this with the ravens at blades edge, duststalker on my human hunter, had my belf travle to the barrens for the pride lord... the lists goes on and on xD

I love doing this with my lowbie hunters!
First, my Dwarf Huntress Leata went all the way to Durotar at about level 11 or 12 to get her second pet, her crocolisk, Hyde. He's now her favourite pet.
Then, with a little help from fellow Petopians

, Toeph, my Tauren Huntress, went to Dun Morgoth in order to tame a polar bear at level 11. That was definately the harder trip, since we had to go through quite a few higher level and alliance areas to get there. Iroh's definately worth it though. I tamed a Ravager and blue Darkshore crab during the Petopia pre-4.0.1
Lowbie Safari too.

Just started a Drenaei hunter and ran - with a fellow lvl 10 hunter - all the way to Echo Isles in Durotar for the spiny red raptor xD In the past I've run:-
As Horde -
to Darkshore
to NElf starting area
As Alliance -
to Mulgore
Eversong Woods
those were the most challenging (all at lvl10) - I feel for anyone running through STV - them Gorillas see you from miles and are evil lol!

Ugh, tell me about it!
When my bf's Hunter, Seabaston, and Cerah were both in their lvl 20s, we tried going to Dun Morgoth to pick up Timber. We just *couldn't* get through Stranglethorn -- damn gorillas even killed us in the graveyard! He eventually settled for a white Ashenvale wolf instead.

Yup - on my way to get the spiny raptor a worgen saw us getting murdered on the road and helped us get to safety - he couldn't believe how far we were running to get pets on a PvP server lol!

I did the same thing with a night elf alt for a dragonhawk! Ohhh, the Plaguelands... >.<
I think I actually swam about half the way, too. I thought it would be safer. I didn't know about the naga up around Southshore until that night. <.<

Oohhhh God. Dragonhawks! Kurasu went t oget himself a dragonhawk at low level. Among the directions given by a friend was: "... and just follow the road and you will come to Corin's Crossing. And you will die. And I will LOL."
And I did. Oh, I so did.

And the bats. The bats!!! Every second step I heard a bat swooping down on me, and the ridiculous choice of a trash pet (a wolf), obviously couldn't hold aggro for a second.
I think the green demon dogs had it in for Ethel too, to be frank with you.
