Yah, so tomorrow Lil'Mar is getting his nads snipped. Any cat owners out there have any tips for some last minute prep? I'll post some pics of him later, hes gotten quite big sense I last posted about him.

The vet will give you all the tips you need pre /post-op. Pre doesn't really matter except depending on the vet it's no food /water after 8pm or midnight.

There isn't anything other then that. They won't release him (usually) till he's completely come out of the anesthesia they've put him on which for boys is not as heavy a dosing a when a female cat is spayed usually. They'll tell you what you need to watch for. Neutering is an easy procedure and in general the prep takes longer then the procedure itself and there is usually zero recovery time other then from the anesthesia itself. No worries! ;)

I'm glad to hear your kitty is doing well. Last I read, if I remember right, he wasn't feeling so well? And I agree, kudos for getting him fixed!!! There are far too many unwanted kitties and goggies and children these days. (Hmm, perhaps we should start spaying and neutering humans, too?! [J/K!!!])

As everyone else mentioned, you shouldn't need to worry too much. :) Your vet will give you all of the necessary information. I'd just say let him take it easy for a while after the surgery and make sure he isn't fussing with the incision.

Just do what the vet tells you to do should be fine its a pretty basic op.

Ok, so Lil'Mar (hehehe, our nickname for him, should be a in-game minipet  ) right now is at the vet getting it all done, I'm here sitting by the phone......waiting :| . And I mean it all getting shots full check up and a tracking chip implant. At Pet Smart they said it would cost $600 for all that, minus the chip, and as much as we love Lil'Mar, that's just far too much. So we looked around and found a local spay and neuter clinic and it only costs us about $80 for all of it. Honestly I'm not sure how, in this economy, anyone could afford to do anything if there weren't places like this.

@Rhyela: Yah, he was just eating too much too fast. We give him dry food and it swells up when it gets wet, so he was throwing up because of that. I just started to get his food a little wet with some warm water and hes been fine sence. Thanks for your concern though.

Ugh. I agree with spaying and neutering people too. My Social Studies teacher showed us this website...in a ten minute span, about 2,000 babies were born. Too many. D:

1,000 people -did- die however, so it balances out...

BUT. That really isn't the point, so....carry one.

Woot, he's home and I take that back more than a little tripy, he's tripping balls (well he would be if he had any) :| . He's ummm.........like a bobble head with legs  . Poor little guy, but everything went well, and he should be back to his old self by tomorrow  they said. For now we just have to watch him closely and make sure he doesn't flip out and hurt himself. So far hes hiding under me and hissing at things that aren't there :| . Wish him luck on the next few hours.

Agreed. >< That's why I'm not having kids....well, mostly because I hate them, but honestly if I *did* want a child I would at least adopt. With all of the orphans out there needing families we have no need to create more and more.

Glad to hear the kitty's doing well! :D Yeah, he'll be out of it while the drugs wear off, haha. He'll be just fine though. :)

I'm with Vephriel, adoption is the way to go. Too many unwanted children in the world need to be wanted by someone.

*Shudder* The very thought of pregnancy is sickening. A little parasite inside of me!? No thanks!

Adoption is a much better idea! If I ever think I'd make a decent parent that's the way I'd do it.

*Holds up pill to Cow* And this thing! Awesome devices which more people need to learn about.

I know right. D: There's actually a word for that - tocophobia, or a fear of pregnancy. I've always had that, even at a young age. The concept freaks me right out.

Pills are so last decade, get an IUD, safe simple and you don't need to mess with those things. The plastic ones last for 5 years and have the same "liter period" meds the pills do. Copper ones last for 12 years but don't have the meds. Both also liten your periods and cramps, I got the plastic one and haven't had a period in over a year :headbang: . IUDs are awesome just take 1 doctors visit, no surgery, does the same thing as the pill with no hassle, and if all else fails they're in the place where egg takes root, blocking it from ever even attaching. In my opinion, best birth control ever invented. http://www.epigee.org/guide/iud.html

Oh, boy! I get to talk about my paranoias!

Also throwing in my lot with hatred of pregnancy. Enough health ed. showed me what sex can do to you, and the idea of dealing with all the crap that comes with carrying a kid, then having to take care of it the next 18 years? Hell no. Just no. Hell, I'm fine without romance and relationships as well. Warning me I'll live and die alone really doesn't scare me. After years sharing a room with siblings, being alone sounds frakking amazing.

Now, I could tolerate watching a friend or siblings kids, if only to teach them video games and what not. And tell them that 2 + 2 = 51. >:)
