Abandon Pet Macro Question

Hiya, everyone.

I apologize for the thread, but I'm at work, so I can't use the search function. Just a quick question. Does the macro still work? Is there a different method to it? I read it does, I read it doesn't. Just got my undead hunter at 66, so I want to grab the Ghostly Carrion with his li'l smoke.

Reports are mixed. For some it works for some it doesn't. So you'll have to try on your own to find out.

Edit: This is not said in advocate of using this method of taming just providing the info. :D

Apparently it worked for me. I just tried on my ever so laggy laptop before I left from work. Awesome, awesome. I kind of want to kill myself to see if he retains the buff.

Looks like he lost half his mist upon death. I thought that was just a freak incident. Need to confirm this with the brain trust of Petopia!

I saw reports of the mist being less pronounced after death as well. Doesn't seem to occur consistently - try taming another one, and see if the mist on that will be more permanent or not.

Test complete. I test the macro version and the dying version of this pet. Both deaths result in a half-mist. Shame, but still is an awesome pet.

Question is...which half of the mist does he keep? The bit rising from the ground, or the bit clinging around him?

The one clinging around him. The mist near the ground completely disappears. I assume this occurs due to how he dies. I noticed each time I got him killed, he vanished, instead of leaving behind a corpse.

If you still have both of those birds, try letting one of them die over and over again, to see if the mist fades any further. Just a thought.

Interesting how the corpse vanishes, as well :?

The mist only fades once. You get the awesome mist glow when tamed. When it dies, it has less of a glow, but still better than most of the other appearance pets. So it's good that it doesn't regress further.

Hmm... *eyes ghostly bird again* The ground-mist actually bugged me, so it's welcome news here.

I have not been able to get an abandon macro to work for taming any of the special appearance buff pets. I tried it on the blue-pawed Iceclaw bears as well as the firey boars from Mulgore and was not able to successfully retain the special effect on either, despite upwards of 20 or 30 tries each.

Well, I got my Oiled hawk on my very first try, but I couldn't get an Icepaw bear in like 20 tries. Either random...or really don't know.

This was some time ago btw, I don't wanna risk it now. :)

er, some time being still Cata that is. xD

I'm not entirely sure this is the method I tried. It could be quite possible, as I did have an unsuccessful theme on the pet. On both attempts I spam the macro at about .5 seconds left on the tame. When it's time for my two oil pets, I'll definitely take note of it.
