A few men walk into the Deadmines..

I really wans't looking to tame anything but I brought my bear that I never use to abandon if needed. My group was running through the Heroic setting pretty well when we got to the door I said.. "Ok, wait and let me look at the birds before we start killing them all". I wasnt expecting to see anything other than the usual. To my surprise a 2nd parrot looked a bit different and on closer look it was in fact a Brilliant Macaw!! I let go of my bear, put a hunters mark on it and informed everyone what I was gonna do. We moved in and the tank took the 1st parrot as I moved past and shot the Macaw. It immediatly attacked as I hit tame and within a few seconds I had a new beautiful pet.
After I got the bird I thought about the companion pet and how nice it would be to have that with it. I did some research, got the quest for Miniwing and now..

Nice work! I'm still trying to get mine, but unsuccessful after 73 (recorded, I might have missed a few) attempts.

Ooh, I've never seen one of the special birds spawn on heroic before. Grats!

Grats! While I get the name reference to the companion pet, it sounds as though you should work for Stayfree.

I was thinking along those lines, too, but I think that's because we're female.
Congrats on your pretty birdy and mini-pet!

Sadly my first thoughts with the name Maxiwing were maxipad as well. >_> I totally forgot about the minipet until I read it in the OP.
Congrats on the pretty birdy.

Congratulations, such a pretty bird! Won't go into the name though, since I am also female.

Haha yeah, I giggled a bit at the name. I got the proper reference right away, but... xD
Congrats on your tame, it's really a gorgeous parrot.

I really have no numbers to throw around here, but as an example:
I was grinding for Silvermoon rep on my Goblin, who was 1/3 of the way to exalted, in Deadmines. So how many runs is that? I don't even know, but it felt like an eternity. I spent two whole evenings doing it, though I was obviously doing the normal version of the instance. In all those runs, I saw 2 white parrots (the other rare skin, in case you didn't know), and didn't bump into this one at all.
My Nelf has this parrot, and I did a good 20 runs with a high-level alt, until this skin finally appeared (but that time I didn't see the white even once).
I've also been leveling several healers (so done Deadmines at low levels quite often), and only my Shammy healer has seen this skin turn up during one run, whereas she's not seen the white. While my Pally has bumped into the white once, but never this one.
It seems that it's completely random, you might get it first run, and you might run it again and again and again, until you get the skin you want. I believe there was someone here that had done Deadmines over 40 times (if memory serves me correctly), without getting the parrot you have.
