The Darth Vader kid was adorable. XD Although I prefer the Dorito's Pug one. That was quite amusing.

Just as a note, it's Superbowl, not Suerbowl. ;)

My favorite commercial so far has been the Darth Vader kid. :)

Really? o_O

The Superbowl is the pinnacle game of American Football; the equivalent of the World Cup for soccer.

Sounds like ceramics... :P

No, I did not know what it was, nor am I quite sure what a world cup is, but yeah, I knew it was sports-related, at least.

I vaguely know that it's a sports-related word. That is all. *shrug*

By far the Dorritos pug commercial and the Vader kid commercial were the two best! But then the grandpa commercial for Dorritos was funny too! I was rooting for the steelers but the whole reason I watched the supebowl was for the commercials lol.

As a resident of the Detroit Metro area, I'm partial to the Chrysler 200 commercial.

My favorite was the revival of grandpa from doritos commercial. I'm going to admit though I taped the Superbowl, but watched it afterwards and skimmed through it to only watch the commercials and the half time show.

I would say maybe equivalent to the English Premier League title perhaps, but nowhere near the World Cup. I wouldn't even compare it to the Euro Cup (where multiple professional soccer leagues from various countries compete). For many Americans I think its hard to comprehend how much bigger soccer/futbol is worldwide than American sports. Now if there was a 2 year long qualification set of games across the entire globe of Football teams then all met in a single stage round-robin then single elimination from the best of the best of each country (not just from a small Wisconsin city on Lake Michigan), then maybe a football game could compare to the World Cup.

Interesting tidbit: The Finnish equivalent to the Superbowl is a weird sport that combines both Cross Country Skiing and Saunas.

Doritos commercials owned.

Halftime show was... a halftime show... I've never liked them and this year hasn't won any awards with me either.

The Superbowl is several things for different people. It can be summed up like this:

1) Fans of American football unite, pick a team or support their own and celebrate the finale for what is essentially an epic struggle between the two best teams of the year. ymmv
2) Friends come together and join in the fun by watching the bowl together in our homes or bars, revel in the win, dis on the fail and enjoy epic cookouts. <- this is me :)
3) Its the pinnacle of American commercialism in what is the most watched period of TV all year. There's a reason companies pay millions for seconds of commercial time...
4) Its just another day of the year to some. Partly sunny with temperatures falling to the mid 40s. Light to moderate wind from the southwest.
5) Its a laughing stock to some who look down on popular culture, American sports and/or commercialism as the show is usually an extreme case of all three.
6) Its considered a 1000 year old ancient religious holiday where the people of earth's past came together at a mega-temple of sports where men fought and died in arenas for the glory of something called pigskin. There is also a distinct possibility that it was day of great cholesterol ingestion, which regrettably was the main cause of the eventual downfall of said civilization.
7) Its a vocabulary term in Advanced Terran Archeology class with a one line description that will be very important for everyone in that class to know for a pop quiz in about 3000 years.
