This makes me sad...

Not sure if this has been addressed yet since it just happened today, but my favorite flying buddy (Wraith, carrion bird-Brood of Anzu) was changed into a bird of prey with the new patch. I know he isn't rare or anything, but I was pretty attached to him, and loved his black raven look. I suppose it's whatever, but it still makes me a little sad that I will never have much use for him again aa bird of prey since I have Aotona and Olm for that purpose:/

This may also mean that the Brown "Carrion" Owl from Skettis may have reverted, would anyone be able to confirm this? (I'm not sure if this guys is still in game tbh, but I do remember having one for a while due to the fact he thought he was a carrion bird.)

The 'carrion owl' was *long* ago reverted (in 4.0, I think).

If you still want a carrion bird raven, I BELIEVE the 'Brood of Anzu' ravens are still classified as buzzards (in heroic Sethekk)
And yes, the carrion owl has been fixed since 4.0.3.

That's what the OP was saying, Nacht; the brood of Anzu ravens have been changed.

Bah I thought the owl had been, I not longer had her, but with so many of my different, favorite pets falling into "birds of prey" and their tree and special ability both being rather situational, I find it a bit sad. How helpful it is really to have 5 BOP in your stables...? not to mention I really do like Olm too >.<
I do really feel for Livio though, for me the AOE threat, debuff and dps of a carrion bird far out ways the the situational benefit of a disarm on a longish cooldown for pve. You also loose BT, HOTP and LYW as well as some other nice abilities that one may have come very accustomed too that are only in the ferocity tree.
