So Altan (my devilsaur) hit 85 in a dungeon last night. I also got Deathmaw and I would really like to level him up! The only problem is, I would like to be in BM spec for more practice. Will my BM dps go down if I use a worg instead of Altan? I know they have the same +5% crit and Altan has monstrous bite. If my dps will suffer then I'll go SV to level my worg! Luckily the only pets I need to hit 85 are my BM pets so I know which spec I have to be in for those!

From what I understand, all pets do the same amount of damage so it doesn't really matter which one you use. At this point, it's all about preference and what your raid may need.

The only thing Monstrous Bite does is apply a Mortal Strike debuff, which reduces healing taken on the target. There should be no noticeable effect on your DPS once both pets are the same level.

If Monstrous Bite happens to be interfering with Bite (the damage-dealing Basic Attack) despite the 3-second CD on the latter, then you can just take Monstrous Bite off autocast. Then, there will be no difference between a devilsaur and a wolf except for size and sound.

She's trying to decide what buff to bring in, I think?

Personally I wouldn't worry about it, but I'm careless about that.

If you want to level your wolf and worry about him lowering your DPS in an instance until he is as high a level as your devilsaur, I suggest taking your Worg to Tol Barad and do the dailies in there with him. Two days of the basic dailies usually gets my 'lower' leveled pets up to 85 on Shade.

i level every new pet i tame in tb farmin crocs but now that spiders are skinable there i farmed there all day yesterday and leveled 3 pets to 85
