Evening, everyone:

I'm leaving my office (can't use the search function here) now and I decided today is a good day to camp ole Madexx. This will be the first time I camp him, so I hope I'm lucky enough to get one of the uncommon colors. Can someone give me some facts about Madexx. This is what I know so far:

• Comes in five colors

• He spawns in Ulduam

I would like to know what's his timer and any other useful facts you folks can share. Much appreciated.

He has five general spawn points, illustrated on the WoWhead map:

The middle one paths a lot though, so he could be pretty much anywhere in that portion.

Yeah. NPC Scan helps cause he could be anywhere in that big orange blob.

well heres one, if your looking for one certain color...that color will never spawn for you

If you do manage to stumble upon him, always try to tag him before you pop a tame (though you likely already know)! Some haste-potions might help, too. While he doesn't do an awful lot of damage, he's in a heavily populated questing/farming area! The faster the tame, the less opporunity for folk to intervene.

Plenty of people have done it without, but y'never know!

* You can miss his spawn easily as hunter tame is 10sec or less so a hunter can tame, mount and leave before you even know he was up. Likewise with killing and skinning.
* Spawn timer is random. Random is random. It's also painful.
* A lap of the whole spawn area takes around 1min on a 310% mount.
* Don't stop moving. Don't stop moving. Don't stop moving. (Yes, said in a Dory voice from Finding Nemo)
* Colour is not tied to a spawn spot. Colours are random in both appearance and location.
* Patience is a virtue. If you want a specific colour, be prepared to be in that place for what could be a long time.
* Doing the camp as SV is great. If he spawns, use wyvern sting! Taming does not break the sleep and he is TAGGED to you. If not, use some non-dot shot to tag him first. Though tagged or not, if some nice person wants to kill him on you, they will anyway. People can be like that.

Not always the case! I got my blue Madexx the second time I saw him. He spawned in red the first time.

The right color hasn't chosen you yet then... only Madexx knows when it is time. Madexx doesn't care what you think you want... Madexx knows what you need.

I'm cool with either colors, so long as it isn't the common ones. Thank you everyone for the tips so far, but now I'm concerned. Is there really not a reliable timer for this guy?

Nope. He pops out whenever he wants to.

For what it is worth, I've found about 5-7 of them between 2-6AM, 2 around 7PM, and um, he seems to like 9-midnight too. It really is scattershot and it only takes 10 seconds for a hunter to tame and vanish without you ever knowing. :/ And about 20 for a kill+skin. But even this data is not 100%.

Whats the max amount of time you guys have seen it take for him to respawn? I've been talking pretty regularly to the hunters looking for him, and asking in general.. last known spawn was 5:30pm ST yesterday, which puts him a little over 22.5hrs

I've had pretty good luck checking on 12 hour intervals from the last known time. I show up an hour or two early, stay an hour or two late, and patrol frequently.

I found one at 3:17, server time. I just logged on and there he was. But sadly, it was the common skin one. I'm going to camp him again now that I have some idea as to when he'll spawn. Hopefully I get one of the other colors. The brown skin was a tad bit bland for my taste, but at least I know he's Madexx!

Madexx Fact: He spawns the color you want an hour and half after you go lie down cause your not feeling well, after you spent.. 7 hours looking for him before.

He's BIG. Very hard to miss if you're paying any attention. Don't expect a regular scorpid-sized rare, this guy is a monster.

Very true--the few kills I've seen were people that went 'wtf is that huge thing, oh it's a rare.'
