honestly ever since iv been in the forums i have trouble telling if people are guys or gals and then i usually get corrected
still it would be nice to have genders displayed so users can refer to another user with the correct noun (he/she)
can this be done please?

I'm not against that, but I'd rather have a free-form profile field than a binary field. Optional, of course.
Hmm ... And I'm not sure we have space on the mini-profile that you see next to posts. Would it help if you could see this info when you clicked through to the full profile?

In my opinion, this is just like WoW.
You never know if that sweet little butt from that femaly blood elf paladin, that's swaying from side to side in front of you, is played by a 6'2", 450lbs, sweaty, unshaved trucker who smells of onions, stale smoke and beer.
And I think it should by the users decision to display or not display his gender.

Yeah, people will correct you if you're wrong. It's not a real big deal imo.

Oh, of course. But I don't see much problem with giving that option.

Hmm, if I recall correctly I'm pretty sure I've seen these forums with Gender as an optional thing to fill in on your profile. If people want to state if they're male or female they could, or they could leave it undisclosed.

It is done. It is optional. And it is free-form.

Woot, awesome Mania.
Haha, yeah I saw the little hiccup. Scared me for a minute because it was right after I moved a topic and I was like...
D: I broke it!

Sorry about your post, Saturo!
Actually the downtime was for a phpBB update. When I went to set up the Gender field, the board started yelling at me about an important software update that had to be done immediately. I was under the impression that it wouldn't have any real impact on users, but I didn't realize you'd lose your posts in progress. I'll try to be more careful about that in the future.
(And I did the Gender thing after the update was done and we were back up.)

No problem about the post.

All that happened was that I got the error message when I hit Submit. I just pressed back, and the text was there. Besides, it scared Veph, so at least some good came out if it.
It's a neat idea. However, the field does say something about the gender of your characters, and I'd think a larger, multirowed field might be better then. Also, it cut off my text, so it's still empty. I had something quite witty though out.

So what are you really telling us, Kara?

Nothing...
I don't have a truck, I don't drink beer and I quit smoking in 2002.

For the record, there is nothing wrong with 6'2", 450lbs truckers who smoke and drink beer. My mother is married to one. Personally I prefer if they shower regularly, but sometimes that's not feasible on the road. *shrug*
And once again, we are far, far off-topic.

Smoking bad!
Showers good!
Okay, I'm done now. >_>

I get mistaken for a guy on my friends ventrillo all the time. Maybe thats beacuse my voice is so low, for a girl

So yea I'm use to being mistaken for a guy. My friend hates it tho he will always yell at them and tell them that I am a girl... (sometimes he bands them if they were yelling at me for a stupid reason) but I think it would be nice. I hate calling poeple by the wrong gender :3
