I'm sure you remember, way back when, the Tameable Spirits Who Thought They Were Crocolisks (The Ooze, the Hydra, and an actual ethereal Crocolisk). Well as soon as I found out I could get one, I did. I asked my boyfriend (then snobby guildmate ) to summon the Hydralisk for me so I could tame him. I did try the Crocolisk and it wasn't to my liking. So I had my gorgeous Hydra, and paraded the streets of Stormwind with her. =)

After a while, however, I found her unusable due to the constant string of complaints, particularly when I went AFK with her summoned...The heads made a huge rucus, and I'd return to find walls of pink and red shouting 'Tyuriwen dismiss your pet!'. It was all very embarassing...and I couldn't find a way to circumvent it.

The months passed, and she was just sitting there, in my then 5 slot stable, not being used for fear of being ridiculed again...The list of pets I wanted grew and grew...

I'm not sure anyone was ridiculous enough to do this other than myself, but I got rid of her. It was awful and I regretted it soon after, (especially after reports that the constant roaring had been lessened) but I had no idea I could get her back, since I technically obtained her through means that shouldn't really have been there. =s

I found myself reading through some older forum material and uncovered that she could be saved, even after all this time. So, I made a GM ticket (well, the ticket was to ask whether I could complete the Cape Of Stranglethorn/Northern Stranglethorn/Arathi Highlands Quests achievements without losing Bloodsail reputation. The answer is no.). He was extremely polite, and I figured...while I'm here...

He commented on my bizarre amount of pets (50 billion according to him!) then told me to log while he implemented her again. I came back to find Exedra at my side, bopping her heads together like we were never separated.

So I'd like to not only show my appreciation once again to Blizzard's Game Masters, but also to the lovely people here on the forums, who gave me knowledge on a subject I knew nothing about. =) x

Lovely story, its a shame people can't appreciate these things. Congrats on getting her back, she certainly looks happy to be home

Oh my goodness, that's great news! I've still got the wee hydra in my stables, and I could never let her go. I'm glad and surprised to see that the GM was able to return a discontinued pet to you.

And I think they've made the noises the hydra makes less frequent now? I remember the constant gurgling noise the heads made when they fought, but it seems to triggered a whole lot less now.

i tried to get a spirit of koosu restored and the gm told me to go game another one! >___________________>

they also did not know that it was a crocolisk. AND they said they could not restore it because it did not show in my tamed pets log. which is heartbreaking.

@Erwil: I did hear that it was less frequent =D After doing a few heroics with her, I can safely say she doesn't overlap herself anymore (which is good news), but it's still quite frequent. Oh well, I'll just know better not to go AFK in a packed city ^^

@Vet: I've seen a lot of restoration horror stories, and I've come to the conclusion that it's completely dependent on the GM you have...I knew it was a long shot but if I don't ask, I don't get! He asked me what her name was (I froze at this; I couldn't remember exactly how it was spelt, it's been more than a year!), and I said I had no idea, which was quite embarassing since she was meant to be MY pet and I really wanted her back xD But he just had a look at my logs, found her, and poof. I'm not sure when you did it, but it's always worth another shot =D Touch wood but I've had nothing but amazing GMs who have always been so helpful and considerate.

I love my growly hydra. I'm very happy that there's a way to shut the sound off pets in the Interface now, because it means that my hydra can be as rumbly as he wants to be without annoying people. Congratulations on your returned hydralisk!

:O So you can actually get it back if you´ve abandoned it? I did that with mine and I´m missing him now. :< His name was Kiwi..:<

Think it´s time to write a Gm ticket then.....

Haha! I ticked to a GM about my hydra, and a few hours later, when I loged back on, my Kiwi was back! :'D

Thank you for posting this! I was able to get my slime Cúchulainn restored within 10 minutes of reading your post. my GM was super nice too.

Wait, what? I never noticed that option, it seems! How does it work, exactly?

Esc > Sound & Voice > Sound, and then check/uncheck 'enable pet sounds' under Playback.

Man, congrats to you guys getting yours back! I was heartened by hearing these tales and put in to have my hydra restored. The GMs are quick on the draw tonight, man.

Unfortunately, the GM I chatted with told me my Stella had been gone too long and had been deleted from the system, so they couldn't give her back. Erf.

If they can bring back pets from BC and beyond...I'd give it another shot. XD

It's the third or fourth time I've asked for her back, and am always told a variation of "too long in the system, sorry!" (we'll ignore the one time they tried to tell me she was an item I had never looted they couldn't find her >.>)

I have hopped servers since I released her, so I'm thinking it's probably just too big of a hassle to try and dig back that far. And I'm sure they have more important things to do than hunt out one single beastie for me, so bleh. A loss is a loss, I guess. Live and learn.
