Hello all, did a search but couldnt find out exactly the answer. Sorry if its a repost.
The spiny Raptors on Lost Isle, are they really goblin only?
I have a level 77 undead hunter. Can I visit this zone and get this pet somehow?
Sorry if its a newb question.
Thanks!

I believe it really is Goblin only. Lost ISles is not accessible after you leave it on a goblin, and no other race can ever go to it.

Ohhh ok. I've never played a goblin so I didn't know that about the starting zone. Thanks!

Yeah, it kinda sucks that you can only get to them as goblin.

Usually Blizz is really good about making pet types accessible to everyone.

Well either way, the lowest lvl spiked raptor you can get is 2-3 from the Troll starting area

Grabbed one on my draenei as soon as I hit 10.
He may not be a color-changed but he sure is spikey!

Mmm I haven't looked into it much cause I got turned off colour changers a while back (I realised that I wasn't bonding with them like I was with my stable colour pets). I was more just musing that Blizz generally doesn't do this kind of thing and is very careful about everyone having equal access, so to speak.
And Sam, thanks for pointing that out! My goblin will have to go grab one of those!!

I have one on my level 64 night elf hunter, Gypsi, so it is possible, you just might not want to do it.
I started Gypsi as a goblin, while on the isles I tamed the color changing spiny raptor. I then played her through about 25 levels as one and then faction/race changed her to a night elf hunter.
Possible, but it'll cost ya $30. O_o
Not sure if it is worth that to you. Its not the reason I made and changed her over, but a nice side benefit at least.

Sarayena, I honestly don't think that Blizzard is considering color changers in the same light; in other words, not thinking of them as actual, separate pet skins. After all, 4.0.1 gave many color-changers a single, stable color.

To add on to this, these raptors ARE available elsewhere. You'll have to wait until Outlands (or run to the troll starting area) but they are available. Implying that these types of raptors aren't available to everyone is a misconception we don't want to spread.
Since your hunter is level 77, if you don't mind the raptor being stable colored, you can find some easily in the Outlands and/or Zul'Drak depending on the color you want.

It depends how you look at it. If you want colour changers, you'd definitely not consider them available elsewhere.
I agree with you, Cialbi, I don't think Blizz considers colour changers in the same light, and most likely it's because they've seen that a lot of players don't. Before we got so many stable pets, a lot of us (me included) complained about certain skins only being available as colour changers.

Yes, if you want color-changers, then you have to roll a goblin. But it almost seems as Blizz is trying to step away from the color-changers.
Also, the only non-color changing green Cata croc skin is Gosh-Haldir (who is a rare spawn in Loch Modan) unless you're a worgen.

Actually I believe you can get the color changing mastiff and the croc(hopefully I am not thinking of a different one) even if you are not worgen. The mastiff is just inside the Gilnaes zone while the crocs are just outside. Now I know it is no problem for ally but not sure for horde(I might check with mine when I can) but I do know there may be phasing issues with the quests in Silverpine. Hope that helps.

Nope, they get completely phased out by the time the Worgen starting area questline finishes.

Are you talking about the horde or ally, cuz I got the color changing mastiff on my dwarf hunter and can't even do the worgen quests in that zone. Now mind you I only went into the zone and to the left to get the mastiff and fox.

They're referring to
This mob. There's two color-changing mastiffs.
