Interestingly I've been camping pogeyan now, and i went to orgimmar to respec, and while there my npcscan goes off for pogeyan, and sure enough i rush back on zep, and he is sitting there waiting on me!
This is the 2nd time its done that, once for blue madexx right after i left uldum, i went back when it went off like 25 mins later, came back and sure enough blue madexx was there and dead! Anyone else seeing this happen, like after you leave a zone, it going off in orgimmar when the rare spawns?

When you manually add a mob into NPCscan it doesn't have the zone restrictions that the default ones do, therefore it cannot distinguish a false alarm from a true catch. There must have been someone in Orgrimmar with Pogeyan tamed and it picked it up. The rest is just coincidence, as addons cannot pick up a spawning mob unless you're within range.

I somewhat agree and it would make sense if Putrius wouldnt trigger npcscan in icecrown alll the way in dalaran not sure what to think of it

Putridus is an enormous npc, and as such has a huge hitbox. You can target him all the way from Dalaran due to its proximity and his size.
Ogrimmar is on an entirely different continent from Stranglethorn.

Forgive me for the tangent, but wasn't there a time, or maybe an option, when NPCscan wouldn't send out alerts if you were "resting", such as in a major city? I distinctly remember towards the end of wrath seeing "The following creatures were cached while you were resting:".
It's not a huge hassle to have the false alarm, but chances are my first time in Org after clearing a cache I will get a Terrorpene alert, usually immediately after hearthing/logging in (org is crowded on Illidan). Since they're both on Kalimdor, the continent filter doesn't help.

One word.
Blazewing.
Blazewing will set off NPCScan in Orgrimmar almost every time he spawns in Mt. Hyjal.

Not just there. I had a hit on him from Uldum o.O (he also HIT me from there, but...)

I've had Blazewing go off a few times before too however I don't think it's actually Blazewing that's triggering it, it's just too far away. I'm thinking it's a bug related to someone with the Ashes of Al'ar or possibly the new Dark Phoenix mount. There is no way NPCscan could pick it up from Uldum that's for sure so I'm more inclined to think its one of the mounts triggering it.

I'd be more willing to believe that if it weren't for the fact blazewing registered in my combat log as attacking me with some fire spell o.O
Of course, it could be a mount triggering npcscan, since it's separate from my combat log.
On the other hand, that's some spooky coincidences

You registered an attack from Blazewing in Uldum? ...you didn't come from Hyjal before Uldum or anything like that did you because that is crazy lol.

Nope! ...well yes, in that I flew from hyjal south and eventually ended up in Uldum, but I was doing archaeology and had registered my smacking things around in Uldum between my departure from Hyjal to Blazewing in Uldum.
It's never happened since, though, so I don't know what was up with it.

Here is Blazewing's spell that he casts: http://www.wowhead.com/spell=93513 Notice the range on it? That's why npcscan can pick him up from Orgrimmar or anywhere in Kalimdor.

50k yards, that's pretty impressive! Tooltip says unlimited, but scroll down.
Anyway I been having some pretty weird things go off with npcscan lately to. It picked up the rare armadillo when I was in Un'goro just the other day, flew back and got me a mace. So not sure what is going on, but something is pretty wonky about it.

he also sets it off in azshara, and will hit you with flame buffet there too. one of the TH mobs sets off alarms in stormwind, but i don't remember the name. the one with the blue square on the overlay.
