is it possible to maybe add ranks based on number of postes? i really like that since it rewards you for being active.

Yup, we have the power to add ranks based on posting here. I wasn't sure what sort of ranks might make sense, though -- what names and what number of posts. What so you suggest?

well maybe go by WoW's PvP titles like start at scout then so on and maybe make them in increments of 10 posts each since the forum community right now is rather small.

personally if we ever get big enough i think offering custom ranks for dedicated posters would be a nice feature

A system that usually works well on forums I've been on is this:

Default Rank --> 100 post rank --> 250 post rank --> 500 post rank --> etc etc. You could add more, take some off, anything. Something like, say, every 100 posts works too. Or every 75 posts. Really, the post count can be whatever you want it to be. :)

As for the names.. Something universal and generic could work?
Default Rank --> 100 post rank --> 250 post rank --> 500 post rank
New Member --> Young Member --> Active Member --> Loyal Member

Maybe you could build off of that? If you going for WoW-type ranks, then I'm lost on that one. xD

(hope I was allowed to post here. D: )

Mm, I like the WoW titles idea that Zangor had, since it makes it a bit more special to the users, you know? And maybe less lofty goals since some people can't post zillions of posts but they don't want to feel like they're not valued as it were. Just offering some opinions on the matter =3

You could do different types of hunters...

10 posts
Fisher

25 posts
Trapper

50 posts
Skinner

75 posts
Field Guide

100 posts
Specialist

...I'm running out of names, lmao, but something like that. Maybe make 250 posts be Big Game Hunter.

Default: Boar

50 posts: Cat

100 posts: Crab

150 posts: Gorilla

...

You get the point.

Let's rock some pet family titles.

Or perhaps use Rare Spawn names, Bangalash could be 100 posts or something.

Something WOW related would be fun. Maybe along the same lines as professions?
It could even follow the skill lvls needed as ranks for posters :)

Apprentice Poster
1+ posts

Journeyman Poster
75+ posts

Expert Poster
150+ posts

Artisan Poster
225+ posts

Master Poster
300+ posts

Grand Master Poster
375+ posts

I like the notion of using the profession ranks. It's akin to the PvP titles in WoW-ness, but ... less PvP oriented. :)

Pet families are cool, but I don't want to have to rank the families -- nor have people refusing to post because they'd be moved out of 'Boar'.

yeahhhh... and I'm one of those who'd whine and mutter when there wasn't the family I like there... ::grin::

Besides, it'd be cool to actually get a profession rank since I've never taken the time to really level anything but cooking, skinning or fishing ... I've got to get my act together. ;)

OK im not the most focused person, I'm kinda scatter-brained (no I'm NOT blonde), but ill give the title thing a shot. people seem to be divided between pvp names, and profession names, but i don't think EITHER is the best solution. Whether you BG alot, are a hardcore raider, horde, allience, orc, elf, or someone whos playing thier first week, we are all hunters at heart. a title like rival (i myself never do arenas) would be lost on someone just reaching lvl 60 or so, and lvls don't mean anything when it comes to posting on the forum about our collective love of any and all pets.
Now before i get off track here, here's my suggesstions for titles. newcomers would be greenhorn, 1st rank is adventuer, 2nd is survivalist, etc. final rank could be master tamer. these types of titles reflect what it means to be a hunter, the journey that you and your pet go through. Anyways, thats my take on it, hope i didnt ramble on too much :D

Hmmmm more hunter realated hey, well you could always go with somehthing like ammo types and levels?

Rough Arrow
1+ posts

Sharp Arrow
10+ posts

Razor Arrow
20+ posts

Jagged Arrow
50+ posts

Wicked Arrow
100+ posts

Blackflight Arrow
200+ posts

Terrorshaft Arrow
400+ posts

I know there are alot of other arrows, but thought it would be safer to avoid quest/craftable arrows as we may not all have access to them, that and there would be just to many posting lvls ;)
