Oh my god. I hadn't noticed that at all. Funny how you don't notice differences when you assume they're not there :) I can't wait to get home tonight and check this out!
Glad to be of some use. =)

I was worried it was a known thing and wasn't going to post it.

Crane. Oh god please the crane. I would play BM if the crane god was made a spirit beast.

Best. Idea. Ever.

And if that's not possible, I would welcome a spectral wind serpent or a fire-covered fox (Modeled after the Kitsune, after all Pandaria is based on the eastern cultures, no?)

No. Pandaria is based on China only.

I would love a reptilian spirit beast. I wouldn't even care if it were ghostly and not opaque. Just something that's not a cat, please.

It's a mixture of asian cultures. China, Japan, Taiwan, etc.

KLS has a strong Himalayan influence, but the Himalaya stretch a long way, touch a number of countries, and have both China and Nepal sharing them as a border. But the grummles are very obviously meant to be comical versions of Sherpas, which are a Nepalese group of Tibetan ancestry :)

But there's very obviously other cultural influences present in the expansion. Much of the architecture in KW and the architecture of the Jinyu in particular, reminds me more of South-east Asia than China.

Totally, there is something about building style that remind me so much of the temples in Thailand, yet without being exactly like it. I really think it worked with them so well as Thailand as a whole has a much more tropical, wet and watery feel to it compared to that of china imo, and there for linked to the Jinyu very nicely.

As for Japanese influences, MOP is a little lighter on, but i suspect it also comes down to their last little "Hiccup" and the less obvious Japanese references, the better for making sure the waves remained calm. ;)

I think we are going off topic here...

I think MoP is a mix of Asian cultures but definitely dominated by Chinese references. I mean, hello, Pandas! One area that screams Japan is the Arboretum. The pinkish trees remind me of Japanese cherry trees when they are in full bloom. I lived in Japan as a teenager and there is no more stunning a sight then an endless row of cherry blossoms in full bloom.

It's true. We are getting WAY off topic. But in this case I think it was a matter of nothing relevant left to be said. Someone expressed disappointment at a lack of spirit beast in 5.0. Others mentioned that it is known they're coming (5.1 or later). And the rest just hung around afterwards to chatter :)

Anything but another cat. A crane, reptile, anything new or under utilized would be fine by me, just no more cats.

Oh a crane would be awemazeing. And if it was a cat, I'd be ok with Xuen, I'd release my blue tiger for that skin only. I also think a reptile would rock! I just hope it is something really neat and NOT ghost like : /
