Goodluck to other hunters camping for him. He is a very nice looking pet.

I tamed him about 10 minutes ago alone with just me and stam food.

At first I thought I failed because I died before the tame finished. But after I flew back and ressed, I found him sitting in my callpet5 slot. :headbang:

It was a very exciting tame. ;)

Dilvar wrote:I now has a turtle named Brenne(if that right i think it means burn in norwegian, any norwegians to verify that :D).
This is very off-topic but why not :)

It depends on the context.

If you'd want to express someone or something else doing something (in the future) then you would indeed use "Brenne" (infinitive mood).
Example: "Would you burn that CD for me" would be translated as "Kunne du brenne den CDen til meg".

However, if you want to express a command or request then you'd probably use "Brenn" (imperative mood) instead.
Example: "Burn that CD for me" would be translated as "Brenn den CDen til meg".

It was at 23.30 Western European Time (Amsterdam)

Wow, haven't felt this happy in a long, long time xD!!!

Good hunting everyone, he is awesome!

Tamed earlier today on Dragonblight EU at 17:42, camped just over 4 hours when it finally spawned and it sure was worth the wait, such an epic pet! :D

Image

Items used:
Elixir of Mighty Speed
Potion of Speed
Scroll of Fortitude II
Kinda forgot to use Deterrence heh

I went back at 23:42 to see if the 6 hour re-spawn theory was correct, and it wasn't there, so my guess is that the re-spawn timer is anywhere above 6 hours +, stuck around till 12am with still no sign of it.

Location of it being spawned was at 52 83 swimming in the lava, spawned right in front of me as I was flying over when NPCscan picked it up.
Good luck hunters camping this turtle, for your wait will surely be worth it! Hope this helps ;D

It will be 9.5 hours straight camp for me today and not a sign of Terrorpene. The Hunt continues when servers are back up from maintenance !

UPDATE - Got him ! Got him sort of between the 2 spawns at 54,82, he was in the lava. Right when I started my sequence of Haste pot -Deterrence -Tame another Hunter called his pet and was going to kill him saying after the succesful tame " wtf did you do that for he drops Cata loot " . I was speechless from the tame and could not believe another hunter was saying that to me ! Anyhow , I am stoked !
Tamed at 12:22 Server Time , Aerie Peak US.

Finally, After lurking threads, asking friends, random people, general and trade chat, camping since I hit 85 (Last Saturday) and checking constantly since I hit 81 (Last Wednesday) I finally .. finally, get my beloved turtle. Camping is a pain, but trust me, once you see him pop, you spazz and are so happy :p
Left the ui on so you all can see location and time (Eastern)

And as usual, NPCscan gives me a heart attack, but.. I think Terrorpene is sniffing the booty of NPCscans model.. Yeahh. I just noticed that, and if you read the convo I had with my fiance, yes.. The NPCscan freaked me out I dropped my toast and my dog ate it :| Aw well, there goes part of my dinner xD

Camped for three hours at the southernmost end of the magma pools there in Hyjal.

He finally popped, I flew over to him, started to tame-and the jerk killed me!

Shaken, I flew back to my crisped corpse and rezzed. Put a HM up on him and then ate something.

Tried again. He takes 10k off each second.. and by the end my health was down to 1879 before he became mine! And my health is normally 91879. O_o

Named him Ragnaroc (as Ragnarok was reserved).

Got mine yesterday. It was the first time I'd seen him, alive or dead. What I did was to stack haste gear (17.48), and eat a baked manta. When I was set to tame I drank a haste potion and popped my Battlemaster's Rage. Died three times... on the 4th try I got to max tame distance and went behind a tall rock. He was still hitting me with burning hatred through the rock, but the distance gave me an extra second to complete the tame -- I had no visible health on the bar when I was done. Another funny thing was that he took damage from swimming through the lava as he came over to me, after he'd been paddling through it like it was mud.

Can't say my story is really eventful. I had just finished doing some of the Tol Barad dailies except for the three I completed but the npc wasn't there for, so I went back to stormwind, took out the garbage, then getting back decided to go to Mt. Hyjal for the heck of it. I happened to fly down to his area, and I wasn't there more than 10 seconds before npcscan tripped. I landed, dismissed my raptor that I had been levelling and began the tame process. He hit me with Burning Hatred twice each of them hitting full for 3 ticks (luckily I have over 100k health at 85) and before he could hit me a 3rd time with it, he was tamed.

He was pretty close to the northern end of his path as I landed up at the northern edge to tame him. And before it sounds like a totally got lucky first shot kind of thing, I had on and off camped him since I hit 81. I just knew that at this stage I wasn't going to drive myself nuts camping these rares like I did with Loque.

I searched for him since I was 81, today I logged out in his spot to play with my Paladin alt and when I logged in again I saw a red dot in the minimap and he was there!
I have at the moment 89k health, so there were any problems but he hits hard :)

Here's my fire puppy: http://i54.tinypic.com/264jotv.jpg
Normaly I give "named" pet their original name, but since I speak Italian the name Terrorpene is not so good :) :)

OMG Agravaine your avatar is just AWESOME, I just love Zeke Wolf and my character name is based after him (Ezechiele Lupo in italian >> Eziwolf :) :) )

I got my turtle today!

Thank funk for that, lol. I am never camping again.

If its not there within 5 minutes of being there im leaving. Also, if i want a rare pet, im going to log out in its area, as ive found that to have very good results. You wont have it that day, (or that week, lol), but youll get it eventually with no stress.

Just tamed very easily at level 85 with 100k health and no additional stam/haste than what my gear has already given me. He probably knocked me down a good 50k though so I can see the tame being a pain. He spawned right in the middle of the lava on the "southern" spawn point, and I could see him through/on/in it clearly. NPC scan picked him up even though he'd been cached, which was... unexpectedly nice o.O

He spawned 8 hours after the server was up, on the dot, after Tuesday Maintenance.

Hope that helps!

I got him! I logged out over his spawn points and just logged into check after DCing on my paladin to NPCscan going off and GIANT FIERY TURTLE. Didn't screenshot before or during the tame, I was freaking out too much and glancing between the tame bar and HP bar.

I feel bad because a blood elf hunter was /rude-ing at me after I tamed him, and I logged into my druid to apologize, and he told me he'd been there a few hours but kept dying on his previous couple of attempts to tame. Like I said, I do feel bad about that, but I honestly didn't see him there, and all's fair in love in war (or, in this case, turtle-taming).

I named him Torkoal at first, but figured such a magnificent creature needed a more dignified name, so now he's Hephaestus.

Thanks :) it's good to know others remember old Zeke. Currently, Zeke is what I've named Skoll, though in the past I used it on Deathmaw.

Back on topic, I should state that I tamed Terrorpene at 83 with 55k health before food, potion and trinket buffs. I imagine it's soloable at 81 with fire resist gear and the core hound technique.

I'll add a bit to this thread as I did before when I tamed my Terrorpene. I decided that I wanted to lvl some more tonight after spending about 2 hours trying to get the fox minipet. And I thought it would be neat to see if Terrorpene was up again and perhaps share the love with another hunter. So I swoop down and spam my macro a bit. Sure enough there he was just patting the lava.

I who'd Mount Hyjal and wsp'd any lvl appropriate hunters and a hunter in my guild as well. I only got one response from a lvl 82. I told him to bring a healer. I imagine he didn't know one as he came alone. After a few unsuccessful tames, I asked a friend that was leveling his Resto Druid in Hyjal to group up. And 2 more attempts later, Mr. Troll hunter had a brand new turtle. Oddly as he tamed, my PC decided it needed to restart and do an update. But I caught up with him after I relogged and congratulated him. He was so excited. It's always nice to pass along a rare instead of seeing it killed.

And as I was getting ready to log a lvl 80 hunter asked about my Terrorpene. I decided I wanted to lvl with him. And I gave her the time of his tame and where to find him. Here's to hoping she gets her turtle too!

At least it was tamed by someone, rather than being killed.

I had him killed by another hunter who already had him mid tame, lol.

I went a bits nuts at him, and felt really bad about it later that day, but i have no idea what he was called to apolagise...

If you happen to read this, then sorry, lol.

I got her!

(Yeah, I know everybody's referring to Terrorpene as "him". I was too, before taming, and then after taming I was telling my boyfriend "look at my health, she nearly killed me"... I've learned not to fight pets when they decide their own gender through a slip of my tongue like that. It never works.)

I quested in Vashj'ir until I was level 81 - this was barely enough to mop up the first corner of the zone, and therefore I didn't replace very many items.

As soon as I hit 81, I dropped everything I was doing, dropped by the AH and bought a +90 to all resists elixir (Prismatic Elixir) and a +225 haste elixir (Elixir of Mighty Speed). I also had some +30 haste food and a handful of potions of speed already on me.

I tamed a temporary corehound for the bloodlust and parked myself over the southern end of the lava lake. And waited. And waited. And waited. And waited...

And fell asleep in my chair.

My boyfriend shook me awake and said I really should go to sleep. I said alright, but could he keep me logged in and wake me if the turtle spawned? Sure, he said. So I went to sleep.

A few hours later, the boyfriend shook me awake. Turtle was up!

I scrambled out of bed (nearly tripped over the carpet in the process) and sat down to sort out the taming process. Drank the two elixirs, ate the buff food, summoned the temporary corehound and moved the following taming macro to my bars:

#showtooltip Tame Beast
/cast Ancient Hysteria
/script PetAbandon()
/use Potion of Speed
/cast Deterrence
/cast Tame Beast

Flew to the rock closest to which the turtle was pathing, pressed the macro... and the little bugger promptly walked out of tame range just as I pressed it. Argh. Cue panicked mounting up, flying to the next closest rock, and pressing tame... and by that point Deterrence had, obviously, worn off, so I took the full brunt of Burning Hatred. Nothing to do but cross my fingers and pray the tame will go through.

And it did! One more tick would've killed me.

For reference: lvl81, 32243HP (with a +30sta buff food), 90 fire resist (from the prismatic elixir), 20.69% character screen haste (counting the +225 haste from the elixir and +30 from the buff food), plus speed potion and bloodlust, equals a successful tame with no need for deterrence.

Still trying to decide on a name for her. So happy! This is the first time camping a rare spawn has paid off for me. (We won't talk about the time I was circling for Loque, stopped to drain a cloud with engineering, and reached the next spawn point in the loop only to find that another hunter had just tamed him.)
