Since the Quilen model seems to have pretty much stabilized now (and looks awesome!), I figured it was about time I replace the really old models shots I had in the original post. They look nothing like that now!

If only they'd found a way to keep the floppy ears as a detail.

Yup. Very much this. There is literally no reason why they aren't tameable.

Well, there are reasons they're not tameable, but most likely the reasons are ones you don't like or agree with.

Hit me with 'em then. To be honest, if goats and rhinos are tameable, I see very little reason why yaks aren't either.

Well, here let me rephrase, there are probably reasons they are not tameable YET. I can see these being tameable in the future. But here are some reasons why I personally think Blizzard isn't making them tameable.
1. They don't want us getting too many beasts per expansion.
2. Some people say they should be thrown in with goats, but that really just seems to be a thing blizzard doesn't do. Sure, there's birds of prey, but I feel that's an appropriate exception due to the variety of birds we have.
3. I'm sure there's more to making beasts properly tameable than flipping a switch. I of course don't know what it is they have to do, but there isnt just one team for hunter pets. People who work on hunter pets also have game balancing to do or boss fights to tweak. With the expansion getting closer to release, I'm guessing big game content needs to be a high priority.

Now, just a reminder I have no idea if these are real reasons or not, it's just me guessing. I totally would welcome yaks as a family, and see it as a possibility in the future, but I'd be a little shocked if they came out before MoP was released. I'd be happy, but shocked. :)

Out of all the new pets, I don't really see any that appeal to me save for the black tiger; kinda meh about not getting hydras but maybe... everyone seems to like the new pets though & that's all that matters ^_^

Im also not that stoked about the pets, maybe thatll change when I test tame them come Mop. But im kinda like eh, except for the tigers really. But really blizzard has been throwing in groups of different sub species for years. The "coyote" has been put with wolves. The ant type has been put with slithids. Cats have been all grouped together. But theres really nothing I can do but hope for yaks.

Are there no new crab skins in MoP? I thought I remembered reading about some, but don't see any on the list.

There are previously unavailable crab skins, but they were created in Cata, so I haven't put them on this list. There IS one new skin, but since WMV fails to render markings I had to beg Wassa to use her wizardry to produce it for me. I just got it yesterday and will put it up shortly :)

is there a reason all the hydra skins are not on the list? there is still a month of beta left at least and who knows if blizzard will make one final pet pass in a future build and they become tameable. FITE HYDRAS FITE!

Because there's no reason to believe they'll become tameable (unfortunately). And they're not new MoP models or skins. They're still on the main untameable families list.

Wandering around Jade Forest today and beast lore'd those big elite snakes near the bridge to VotFW.

They have a diet. I'd love a big green snake as a serpent pet. I'm just sayin' :)

For an old model intended for a critter they scale surprisingly well (pardon the pun)!

Python model snakes have had diets since Cata beta (or at least some have) but sadly they're showing no signs of making them tameable. They would be pretty cool.

Aww, disappointed. Cest la vie.

I've always been curious why the ground snakes weren't made into hunter pets in Cata. D:

Goats and yaks are closer to each other than water striders and fen striders.
