We will be getting many more stable slots, but they haven't said (that I've seen) how many exactly. But they are facilitating pet collectors. We will be able to choose three pets from our stable to have available via Call Stabled Pet to use out in the field. So if we have like 10 pets, we can choose 3 to have immediately accessible.

Strangely enough, and even though I know you used it as an example, 10 pets still doesn't seem like it's enough.

Bigger than Pokemon, ehh?
Foxes would be a nice change of pace from wolves. Plus they are cuter.
Pest-wise, I find the hyenas ingame to be pests more, which is why I have never been interested in them.

Note: Foxes aren't cute. Get yourself pet chickens or lambs or birds of some kind, and when you discover lots of headless bodies, you'll be singing a different tune.

Have you not seen the
Fox and the Hound? Foxes can be cute! In a I'll-never-see-one-in-real-life kind of way...
Monkeys might be a fad on new hunters I make, probably nothing I'll keep. Same for foxes. I'm still waiting for that lava-turtle type thing to be official and tamable...

Ah yes, the Volcanoth. I'm in the same boat as you, I would love to be able to tame that thing. But, seeing as how the concept art shows that it's roughly the size of a small mountain, I'm not sure we'll be able to.
I especially like the colored version:

Foxes are way cuter than opposums, and opposums have the same headless chicken problem. (So do dogs, sometimes, for that matter. My mother had this ... well, nevermind. it gets a bit disgusting. Suffice it to say that she chose the chickens in the end and the puppy found a new home with my aunt.)
But opossums are vicious little buggers. I'll take a fox.

For me a fox would be a great little pet in game depending on what it looks like. Big or little the Volcanoth just looks scary.

Keep those negative comments to yourself!!! *gently pats Volcanoth* "There, there, sweetie, you'll be mommy's good little lava turtle, right?" :3

I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility for a Volcanoth to be tameable.

We already have some pets that seem more elemental than beast:
With the drastic changes that Cataclysm will bring to Azeroth I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of new fiery creatures awakened from the depths to become new pet families or additions to current ones.

I'm hoping for a consecration-like ability myself, since there is already so many pets with "spit" and "breath" abilities.

Mm, that would indeed be an awesome AoE for those beasts.

I think more tenacity pets could use an AoE ability like bears, so that we don't feel like we're stuck with them if we want a pet that can do better AoE threat. I was thinking of something either like a Molten Shell that does fire damage to every enemy that hits it plus reduces damage (think like a better Shell Shield), or maybe something like a mage's Blast Wave, but without the stun, so a radial fire attack. Hehe...Turtle Blast.
I hope this isn't all wishful thinking.
