Twitter chat about hunters

It's not much, but wow.com says the twitter Blizz devt chat had this to say about hunters:

Q. Will there be any new pet families added, or will we simply see more additions to existing ones?

A. We're not sure yet whether we're adding new pet families or not. It's possible. Expect to see some monkeys, foxes and other new pet possibilities though!

Monkeys and foxes and uhm... other pets, oh my!

That's the only thing hunter-oriented that seemed to come out of the Twitter dev chat tonight. (I also grabbed two snippets about mounts in another thread.) Not exactly solid info, but still exciting.

It kind of worries me, though. Like if they are pressed for time, it'll probably be the pet families on the chopping block.

It's that word "possibilities" that leaves me skeptical.

yeah I'm a tad skeptical too. Honestly though, it sounds to me like they realise the players are getting restless in WoW and are rushing to tell us something without actually having it all finalised.

On the other hand, I think we're more likely to see monkeys and foxes in-game but untameable (since they were there in the previews from Blizzcon), in which case Blizz can patch in the tameability. If they're rushed, I mean. We'll see.

Haha yeah, I've seen them get into my parents' chicken coop too many times... Bloody massacre. They'll never be anything but scavengers to me, so I won't be looking to tame one. I was more interested this part:

There aren't any foxes right now, but there are some coming in Cataclysm.

Monkeys could just be put into a renamed gorilla family if they run out of time. Foxes are cute, so I hope we get them as well. I wonder what all the other new families would be. I've always wanted tamable hydras and basilisks.

Anyway, I suspect Blizzard might throw fixes in with wolves if they were in enough of a hurry.

Haha I was waiting for you to comment Nik. ;P See it's because of this that I hope Blizz just opens up the pet families for us. I'm not particularly looking to tame a fox, but I know people that are. I'm not looking to tame a hydra, but I know people that are. It'd be great if we had so much variety (and equality between the pets) that people could really just tame and run with the beast they love. We'll see what Blizz ends up doing, I just hope they're really doing what they seem to be hinting at, and making the pet system more open.

Pet families aside... Any word on stable slots???

In the hunter notes, Azzra. They basically said we'll have a lot more slots, with three "active" slots. When we're out, we can switch between the three active pets, and visiting a stable master lets us switch out passive and active pets.
