How about naming the black dragonhawk; Ashenwing <Lirath's Lost Reign>.

I think the Windrunners used to have a brother named Lirath, an aspiring Ranger who died in one of the wars. The rare beast can be a lost feral 'steed', longing for his master's return.

Well, we are onto the 2nd page and we still don't have an ode...

hopefully this one should explain. ;)

DL PRT! New rares seek thee out,
NPCScan, art thou Compatible? Lua errors, dout,
Reboot reinstall
Finally thy 1st test passed, dam firewall!

Thy mount, of hills and valley.
load zones, to explore yet crash, Dam Kallie
She found 1st
The hawk, of dragons I favor.

Thy hawk, and with armor of red ire,
From whom yet once i need must have require,
Changed, complain!
It's swoon is lost and now thy disdain

O blame cast at begrudged gift
QQ thy will whine, ill thanked and nose sniffed,
Veruca rant
My goose golden, what, who says I cant

Yet PTR is always so, again, no stone is set
Change is thy only promise, always is and was, always yet
Trust Him
Folly foolishness begets thou, tis not grim

Time is yours to count, one day,
Horizons of hawkdragons, armor of red ire, someday
Soon, see
It will come for all, both you and me.

Pffft SB.

As for Sunreavers--uh, Sunwing makes sense because a Dragonhawk Flightrider is named Sunwing? And they use Dragonhawks like that? Still don't see where you're going.

As for Pop's idea, plausible and kind of cool, more lore aspects is always nifty, but why would it be in the middle of Searing Gorge? Point still stands--having that skin in the middle of Searing Gorge made little sense. The ashy one looks far more befitting of the zone (although it still seems a bit odd to me. Eh.) So I guess while Pop's idea is another solution, it still is a bit shaky. Even pretend it's a lost mount, how did a lost mount get all the way to Searing Gorge, and then decide to stay there and wait?

(Keep in mind, I'm not arguing still that Sunwing's old skin should be gone. I'm just trying to justify Blizzard's decision.)

Can someone please explain to me why this one dragonhawk is so popular? :/ I know he's a new skin, but there's plenty of new skins in 5.1.

Also, what's the difference between a normal dragonhawk and an armoured one?

Edit: Well, I derped and looked at the skin names and found out what people meant by 'armoured'. But still, why's he so popular? He looks pretty cool but so do a lot of the others!

Fine heres an ode

O the armored dragonhawk
who's skin haunted my very dreams
you have made every hunter spam tame beast just to see
o the beast lore of every hawk that was found
until the ptr came around
when I saw that your skin was deemed tameable for me
I jumped up and down with oh such glee
until blizzard said F you this is ptr
what you want now can not be found
I cried and cried and screamed in anger
why blizzard do you take what others so desperately desire?
Ill sit and wait and hope with an endless hope
that ill see your skin flying high like before
oh please blizzard release it once more
on a rare on a mob anywhere just dont be like before
where you build hope, and squeals of delight, where hunters dance in the streets til morning light
until blizzard comes around and says F you THIS IS PTR

*cry*

It's partly due to the skin looking quite different from the regular dragonhawks (which, let's be honest, don't have the best-looking faces) and partly the fact that the skin was removed.

There are certainly many other appealing skins in 5.1 as well; martyrdom goes a long way in a skin's popularity around here, it seems.

I think it's unfair to call it martyrdom. People just get sad when something changes.

I think this has gone a little beyond a simple 'sad' though. I mean no offense cause I'm sad too about it but it's not the end of the world like some are making it seem. It's going a bit overboard I guess. That's all. Nothing saying Blizz won't put him back sometime. It could be this patch, it could be the next. I think the bigger woes would be a bit more warranted if this skin was on live.

My thoughts exactly Jess.

I know people are a little sad at it's skin swap, but please don't take it so personally. It's not like Blizzard got together in a dark room and came up with a devious plan to place a new skin into the PTR, then remove it just to "F you" as some people are concerned about.

I'm sure those responsible for it's implementation in the 1st place know how much people liked it as an option, and if and when they can, would implement it back into the game at the 1st possible convenience. And again it's the PTR, sorry but there really is not much of a foothold regarding the game designers choice in it's development/testing stage. This is the ONLY place they get to try things and see if they like them in a testing format.... BEFORE they introduce it into the game.

I'll agree on that- this has gone a little overboard. I'm sad. I'm really sad. Sunwing was my absolute favorite, and I was dying to tame him. But… This is not Blizzard flipping us off, or a crime against us. Look at all we're gaining in this patch. Tons of new skins, tons of new pets, tons of lower level families for lower level hunters. This is amazing stuff! Changing a single skin, while disappointing for me, isn't going to take away the fact that Blizzard has gone above and beyond to pamper us like no other class.

Adding to that… Again. This is beta. Nothing, no matter what, is assured in beta. The only problem with constant coverage of beta news is that people will always get their hopes up (not finger pointing, this is me I'm talking about) and when things change, as they always will in beta, we'll feel robbed. We need to step back and realize that we never *got* Sunwing as an armored model. If he stays black, we're getting Sunwing for the *first time* when it goes live, and Sunwing will be a black dragonhawk. That he was ever a different model in beta means nothing.

That said, I totally support another dragonhawk being placed in-game with the armored skin, hopefully somewhere where it makes sense.

Wow.. I was actually trying to make it a comical ode, it was a joke.. its not the first time stuff like this has happened on ptr (mushan and yaks recall that, when it was tameable on beta and then they made it untameable) its ptr the only thing thats a fact on ptr is the constant dcs, trying to fly some place and magically being taken to some place where wow cant find you, and lag. Am I sad about the skin? yes.. but it is what it is. A free stable slot for something else.

i feel like a big build will be released soon and maybe sunwing will be changed back. Noah really does pay attention to our feedback here and i assume he has a bit of pull around the blizzard offices. still holding out for spirit beasts and more rares but sunwing is definatly a gem in this patch!

I have heard a reason for Sunwing's change, but it was second-hand so I won't go into much detail. You should know it wasn't a change that was wanted, but was necessary due to problems with the model that the armored skin was using. I don't think they had time to fix it. Generally as patches progress, more and more types of check-ins are stopped and eventually only the most critical of changes can go in. So it could be due to that. Hopefully the armored appearance will be back, but I have a suspicion it may not be for 5.1 I'd love to be proven wrong, though.

I hope they don't take away the black though....I wanted the black more than the armored one...and there's a lot excited over the black, including myself....so if they do reintroduce it, I hope they put it on a different mob so we don't have another Rak'shiri fiasco.
