Chloroceroses are direhorns on the database, not clefthooves. I'd be happy either way, especially if they were clefthooves since it'd finally mean I could retire my Nakk from doing delves lol.

I kind of think direhorns suit them, not just from a SV Hunter perspective, but if you look at it, with the crest and long horn, I see it as a plant ceratopsian, Clefthoof kind of also makes sense since the draenor ones have a crest, but roothorns/choloceroses look too reptilian to fit in clefthooves
As for bears, I’ve been dying for a new basic model, the ones added in legion are just very ugly, I can’t stand their teeth and head shape, the new ones look pretty good for a brown bear, the new blood ticks with the bulge should be blood beasts

We haven't had a new clefthoof in a while. (out side of the uprez'ed Rhinos. ) Really we so need other beasts with a double defensive ability. It doesn't have to be a clefthoof but it sure would be nice to have some different models for something super tanky.

Yeah Clefthooves have been in a rough spot for a while, the dragonflight rhinos are decent, but just basic. I’m sure we’ll get some sort of Clefthoof in a little bit. Tundra rhino is a cool one but it’s real tiny. Stone hounds are up there defensively with clefthooves, but don’t have enough different models to run with. I’m just happy scalehides are finally getting more love by adding something unusual to the family, its first mammal and its first plant. As for the choloceros direhorns, it sounds rough, but direhorns deserve a new member in their family so that’s sort of a plus if you are a dungeon runner or just play PvP. I hope choloceros won’t require the regular direhorn tome since they are a different branch of the same creature, similar to how lesser dragonkin and cloud serpents work, we’ll find out soon enough once we can test haranir hunters on beta

My apologies. Chloraceroses ARE in Direhorns, not Clefthooves. I don’t know what I was thinking that day. Or rather, it was probably 3 am and I wasn’t thinking
I’ve corrected my post now.

Man, I am so hoping hawkstriders become a tameable pet for hunters! Love me some pretty terror birds, & my belf hunters would love to run around with a couple.

Would be absolutely hilarious if the Chloroceroses randomly changed to clefthooves, just to mess with Wain.

I'm already on the edge from lack of sleep. It wouldn't be hard

I added capybaras and amazards to the database tonight, in rodents and lizards, respectively.
Pretty sure all capybaras and most (maybe all) amazards are available in Zul Aman.

I also added the "boggorm" looks.
While they use a new model, it's actually identical to the tidal worm model from Legion (with the same textures) but without the electrical effects on their heads and tails (they still have some glows).
So, I basically merged them into the existing "tidal worm" category, and named the old looks "electric".

Yay capybaras, best dogs.
Amazards are definitely interesting additions. Someone mentioned how they are basically snapping turtle lizards, and coupled with their amusingly long bodies, they're the basilisk upgrade I always wanted... just as lizards lol.
I'm not feeling the boggorms. The bobbit worm model looks way better with the electric effects, and without it, they just look like someone forgot to put the effects on them. This is unlike the unicorns, which look fine with RTX on and RTX off. Just my opinion though. Yay for more options regardless.

To me it’s a little sad if you just make another model that’s basically the same and call it new. Like these new boggorms are the next best example aside from dreamrunners. During shadowlands they added an identical model to the ones made in legion, hence why it started with new attack animations and the legion ones aren’t having it until war within, they’ve taken a step too far when they are added non glowing versions of the old colors, the only one I accept is the new pink one. I have to mention Amani lynxes here, they straight up made another model that’s almost identical to the one from the war within except a better mane and tail which is hardly noticeable, they could of just slapped on those new skins on the already existing model and no one would tell a difference

With these models I believe it's not about filling a tally of new looks, they just want some of the effects turned off to achieve the right look for the zone, and I guess sometimes it's easier to create a new, only slightly modified, model to do that, rather that edit the old one to add options. Same with the Bastion dreamrunners - they didn't want all the glows/flames but they did want a blush on the horn. That's not artists being lazy, it's area designers requesting small modifications to fit their intended look

I've now created a very early draft of a Midnight guide:
https://www.wow-petopia.com/midnight.php
(I haven't linked it from anywhere official, yet)
It probably doesn't even have half the new models, yet. I try to get at least a few in each day. It takes a lot of time. I also haven't flagged which are tameable yet. I'll try to add a rough assessment of those once I'm done with models. When I'm not working my job I'm up to like 7+ am working on datamining and Petopia models. It's now 9 am Saturday and I'm just going to bed. I'm feeling exhausted and a little crazed.
I've modified the look of parts of the guide (mostly look thumbs and section headings) to try something new this time. I hope it's in the right direction and isn't too many boxes. I think it looks cleaner.
Petopia code is all custom and as you know the appearance is based on a very old legacy, so changing page looks isn't as easy as jumping on a commercial web editor or anything. I really wish it was

Some updates:
The Light-infused Dragonhawk model is used for the World Boss Lu'ashal. So, unless a separate NPC is given the variant and made tamable, we won't be able to tame a Light Dragonhawk for an xpac or two.
The electric hydra, as Wain mentioned, is also used on a World Boss.
A Reanimated Amani Roc part of the first boss fight in the Maisara Caverns dungeon.
A Fel Mana Wyrm is part of the first boss fight for the Murder Row dungeon.

It looks awesome Wain! Very exciting to see all these new models, I'm actually pretty excited for the Florafaun.
Thanks for all the work as always <3

Thanks
I wonder if the void- and light-infused dragonhawks would be fitting for spirit beast tames. We haven't had any in a while.

You bet the void one would be farmed so very hard if it was. Would be a great thing if the devs made it spawn and only be visible to hunters after defeating Lu'ashal. Maybe make the pet work like how some mounts and mogs change color based on server time lol.
