Gondria actually shares sounds with the Spectral Tiger mount. Skoll has a more reverberated growl version of the Worg sounds, Arcturis seems to be the odd man out with run of the mill sounds :(

Loque has his own roars. His animations are technically 'unique' since his skin/model is, but mostly it's just tweaked cat animations.

I believe Gondria, Skoll and the bear whose name I can never spell all share animations with their related families (cat, wolf, bear). I don't think they have their own roars though.

I only ever hear it when it's just me and Gondria, mostly b/c Vent and all the sounds of a fight cover it up, but Gondria DOES have a roar-sound. And it's not the same as my Pride Watcher did, even though her "at rest" animations mimic his. But thank got she doesn't yawn with the stretch every 1.8 seconds.

Skoll has a lightening animation running thru his fur, and a crackling-electrical sound to go with it. He's also HUGE. Bigger than the other Northrend wolves.

Really? I just tamed him about a week ago but I never noticed a crackly noise. I'll have to go back and listen harder XD

Go and turn your SOUND all the way up, and the MUSIC and AMBIENT down - then go somewhere other than Dalaran when there are a million other people there with their choppers and other mounts making noise. It's so cool. I think I'm gonna rename him Sparky (from MadDog.)

It's true. I didn't notice it at first either, but I generally don't even have my speakers turned on. Then one day I was walking around Icecrown and noticed this very electrical sound going on. Took me a minute to figure out what the cause was. Once I figured it out I was very impressed. It just matches so well with the lightning coursing over his frame... I need to save up the cash to transfer my main over to Nesingwary XD

Anyhow, a dwarf with Loque runs up to me and says "gondria sux get loque". Naturally, I did'nt pay attention. However, after reading about how exalted everyone here is of him, I thought I'd ask, What's so great about him? I have tamed him too, but I quickly abandoned him. His roar was annoying, and the model is just plain ugly. But somehow he manages to be popular. How come?

Just asking...
I will pretend you didn't say that. haha. The reason I believe is that he different the any other cat. Gondria the name sounds like a STD and he is a recycled model with glowing eyes and a glowing body. I love the sound loq makes when he roars it's very bad ass! I recall when people where not familiar yet with him and he used his spirit strike and it confused people in the group. The couldn't figure out at first where the druid moonbeam was coming from.

EDIT: I just remembered a little joke I would play on the hunters when I first got Loque'Nahak. I name him the same way as his original name and I would use eyes of the beast and put him in the same spot I spotted him. I managed to trick a couple hunters.

That just seems needlessly cruel. After spending hours searching for Loque, waiting for NPCscan to go off, I had the misfortune to run into a Night Elf who was doing just that - having his Loque out and then giving me a heart attack and false hope. When it comes to Spirit Beasts which most people will spend entire days camping for and desiring with all of their heart....such a cheap, petty joke seems incredibly rude to me.

Well they didn't buy it. They always found me hiding somewhere close. I accidentally set off a macro once while digging in the dirt.

Well of course it's going to be obvious after a moment's study...the point is that you'd attempt to do it in the first place. Even if they don't buy it, you can bet that for a split second their heart went in their throat as they saw the beast they've been seeking, or even as their NPCscan alert goes off.

It's just in very poor taste, especially considering you're a hunter as well and should know what that's like. =/

I pronounce it Lock-nah-Hawk, though, thinking about it more in terms of lore/language... Loke-nay-hack seems more fitting... =) (PS, sorry if i'm late on that part of the thread... lol)

Yah I know. I don't do it anymore.

As to the sound/roar Loque makes, is it the same as the Frostsaber Pride Watcher from Winterspring, or is it different?

Different. His roar is unique, and incredibly obnoxious.

How sad - I've been hunting Loque since I tamed Skoll (naturally), and I miss my Frostsaber Pride Watcher because of his roar/slobbery jowl shake sound he makes....

Maybe that's why I rarely-if-ever see Loque out on my server..... he's too annoying. :P

Hehe, it's all a matter of personal taste. ^^ I know that Saturo despises Loque, but I really enjoy his unique roar. :)

My Loki (Loque) Kitty was the best thing that ever happened to me as a hunter for a very very long time. For a long time I refused to leave my BM spec because he'd been my buddy for so long and I'd been through so much with him.

What caused me to tame him?

Sure, he's pretty. Sure, he's unique. Sure, he's got a cool roar. But my Loki? I looked at him and saw the name "Loki." He looked like a being full of mischief and trickery. I couldn't help but tame him because at that point in time he seemed like the first beast who could fight a long side me and relate to my impish personality. I think the role player in me connected with something about him. He was the whole reason why I rolled a hunter in the first place.

It wasn't until about a month ago that I rolled a MM hunter. I haven't really taken Loki out since, unfortunately. Its safe to say my pretty kitty has been replaced by another pretty kitty who is ironically more special to me than Loki has been. You want to know what the funniest part? My springpaw lynx, Jinx, was the fist pet I ever tamed. And to this day he fights by my side. <3

As for Gondria? I wasn't so wild about her at first. It wasn't until two words ran through my mind that I began to adore her. Cheshire Cat. She's the WoW version of my beloved Chessy. For that, she'll remain one of my favorite spirit beasts. I don't need a kitty-wolf or a kitty-bear to be happy. I prefer a real feline. ^_~

But that's just my opinion :D

.... my liking of Gondria has just skyrocketed a little.

*needs to retame her in Cataclysm*

I pronounce it Lock Nar Huck.
Not easy to get german pronounciation into english writing...

Oh, and I still absolutely dislike every single spirit beast so far.
