Well of course they look like them, that's the whole point. I'm just saying that their frame isn't the old worgen, the movement is different except in a very few cases and they had to build the player worgen to have a much larger range of movements.

Anyway, my point was simply that when I look at the video I am reminded of the trolls' slouch. And I don't like it. *shrug*

Blizzard uses a torrent file to distribute the alpha client. People who are not in the alpha downloaded the alpha client via torrent. Using data-mining tools, they looked at the data in the alpha client and pieced together various information.

Most of the videos are taken using a 'sandbox' tool that lets you assemble the client data into a full 3D world, just as if you were logging into WoW -- except with no working game systems, because there is no server to handle them. So ... basically just landscape unless you create a creature yourself, and then you can really only look at its appearance and animation.

Just FYI, people at MMOwned are working on a Cata client. Work so far seems slow, but they have an alpha version ready, if I understand correctly.

I'm not sure I understand, Saturo. What are they working on with the client? ... *goes to look* ... Oh, I see -- an emulator. *nod*

As I understand it, an emulator provides a non-Blizzard backend (server) to make the world feel more like a real game. You'll notice that they're still working with only client-side data so far as information goes, though. For example, from the "Cataclysm Emulation - Day 2nd, Nose to the wind!" blog post:

"Goblins and Worgen have their respective racials and languages now, stats are taken from other races though."

... Because without access to the alpha, I don't think we know their starting stats yet. They can get the text for the racials because the text for those is in the client data, and with work they can emulate the effect of the racials, but they aren't using Blizzard's server code to it ... which leaves us with some holes in terms of how things -- at least server-side only things -- will work in cataclysm.

Oops... I wrote client. Meant server.

But yes, that's basically it. They have also intercepted the communications between the alpha client and the server, and are disassembling the info too. It's more or less a server the way it works tough.

Also need to remember that with the old worgens they'd be considered completely feral, without any real control over what they do so their run would be more animal like. They more lumber along then slouch the way I see it, doesn't bother me as much as the trolls for some reason. lol

Very cool indeed, however as a warning to Mania, I've just left MMOChampion and Blizz has told them to remove all cataclysm content. Aparently it's serious enough that he has said any further posts will net a 3 day ban and if anybody posts in his forums it will be a permanent ban. Have no idea how strong the warning content from Blizz was but it sounds serious.

Aye, she knows - this was old though put up before they said that and it was something I found on youtube not mmo champs. However even though I doubt Blizz will tackle youtube I will remove the link from my previous post if you want to go see it then go to youtube but I wont put Mania in jeapordy.
