Really wish I could roll up with the Fungal Fen striders, but alas. SV
Maybe they'll make the fungal thing a talent like the undead book.
Right now you can use water striders as SV hunter, but it’s annoying to summon it. Switch to BM spec, call your pet, and then switch back, and bam, water strider. Same steps go for stone hounds, tephratennae, beakers, and Tula’rhun
Does it stay summoned or if it dies do I have to repeat that.

You have to rinse and repeat if it dies, I once brought a stone hound to a hard delve, and it was a really bad idea.

The pangolin looks really awesome! Can't wait to see more colours up close.

While Scalehides are usually reptilian (and this isn't), it wouldn't surprise me too much if they were placed there, since Carapids now includes creatures as unrelated and different as snails and arthropods (wonder if we can finally get those separated for Midnight 🤔). In real life, Pangolins are in their own separate clade of placental mammals, with no living close relatives, but they are in a sister clade to the carnivora.

I wonder if they've added a long tongue animation. I'll be a little disappointed if they don't!

I just saw the photo and it has fangs, and looks kind of dog like, but scalehide looks like it’s where it fits most. Shardhides for example, are rather alien bears, although they have a scaly reptilian look, technically speaking, they are mammalian too, so I don’t see why pangolins won’t fit here. I agree, the snails and arthropods need to split into different families, same goes for the weasel like creatures that are in rodents which are Ottuks, Skunks, and marsuuls

Going off of how they just added Lesser Dragonkin in DF and nothing in WW, I don't think that they'll be adding a bunch of new families for Midnight (though I would love if they did). I could see them adding a plant family or something like they did for Undead, but for Plant Animals, and maybe something for the strange reptile cat things. Pangolins will probably just be put in with Scalehides.

Plants should be handled the same way as undead, I fully agree. Being elemental, they'd probably have some crazy pvp advantages like the undead raptors do though lol.

I also hope beast-like aberrations get a skill too, same as undead with different families. The new void zone is probably filled with some beast like aberrations. It would be legendary if we received both plant elemental and aberration taming in the same expansion, same fashion as shadowlands. Midnight is literally perfect for both

I think if pangolins have a scaley hide it's good enough for scalehide, could put em in lizard to I guess?
with pet families being back it really doesn't matter as long as they aren't exotic... They're going to be clefthooves or something now kek.

As for the Aberration thing. I think it would be easier to do the talbuk meat thing. And use some sort of engineer item to Bind them to the mortal realm, making them a beast.
Otherwise we'd have to go around using tame beast on every aberration to find a funny glitch pet. though I would like a voidhound on my Hunter. they're so cute!

I hope I get to see the face up close soon enough. They also remind me a little of K’arrocs, as they both feature some plating and forked tails

Forktail is totally gonna be a cat. Calling it now. It's absolutely the next Panthara. (Hopefully) Jokes aside, I agree with Worg. We need a front view asap, as well as for the other beasts we've not seen the faces for. Come on, alpha build...
