Lolwhat? Hunters are FAR from a neglected class this expansion, or are all the shiny new pets we've been given as gifts this xpac nothing?
And for the record: You pay $15 a month to access their game and play on their servers. By no means do they have to give us any content whatsoever, they just do it so they'll actually have a player base. You are NOT entitled to anything they choose to add into the game so don't strut around thinking you are.
If you're really as disappointed with Blizzard as you sound, the easiest way to send a message is to shut your account off and not pay them anymore of your money.

i kind of changed my mind about hydras. i used to not care for them because of the annoying sounds, but if that wasn't such an issue i would pick one up in a heartbeat. plus having hydras would make almost everyone blindlingly happy!
(ps - world of logs is not a sim, it is actual raid data recorded by guilds and then uploaded to the WoL site)

I didn't mean World of Logs being a sim, but the actual sim sites people use. I just have bad wording.
But I agree about Hydras. Used to hate them, but some of the colors are pretty enticing.

Vetiver wrote:if terrorpene were so easy, there wouldn't have been like a 20 page thread of nothing but terrorpene taming stories >.<
Truth.
Terrorpene is not easy. Simple, demonstrable fact.
IF you bother to accumulate a set of FR gear (and live with the loss of bag space), then yes Terrorpene
becomes "easy" (much like how the upcoming new "nekkid tame" rare becomes "easy" if you simply stow your armor beforehand, etc etc).
As it happens though, for every hunter who took the trouble (or even went so far as to get a core hound / speed potion / etc), there are another dozen or so who died a bunch of times trying it themself until finally begging a healer for help (and even then, many still fail...)
This is not because those other 12 hunters were (all) morons, either - typically these are people who simply don't wish to keep all this extra gear and bric a brac on them, when they have no idea when they might see TP.
So the norm is that they run into him without all of the elaborate preps, and voila - difficult tame.
Case in point:
The first time I tamed TP was on my dwarf at 81, I crossed my T's and dotted my I's, and yes because I did all that preparation and committed to tying up all the extra bag space (and the extra stable slot), things went swimmingly.
Of course, it took about a week of checking the AH until I had my FR set (this is just for one toon mind - i think I'd have gone batty if I'd tried that for all of my high lvl hunters), and I'd committed to sacrificing a bunch of bag slots that I could have used for other things.
Then a few days ago I ran into him by chance on my BE, who obviously didn't have FR gear, and lo and behold it was an altogether different story - took about half a dozen tries until I finally pulled it off by the skin of my teeth, thanks to lifebloom.

I haven't read this thread, so maybe I'm missing it, but you know what I'm disappointed with? The attitude.
Let's look at it this way. We have several spiders who are recolors of the same skin. People aren't happy, despite the fact at one point, these guys weren't even tamable. Now, let's say, we make it so there are like Madexx. BUT WAIT. THAT DOESN'T WORK EITHER.
Because people have wanted Madexx to have separate colors and IDs for a while as well. Now that you have a similar case, queue the crying. Frankly, I think Blizz should see this and go, "Wait, wait, wait. They're still complaining? Forget them, no new rares."
And then people will be sad.

No but it does imply it though, why else do you think there is griping on here, mmo, and offical hunter forums across the community. If you think hunters are fine, your probally a strictly PVE person or not doing any competive PVP. When was the last time you saw a blue post on any of the constructive threads hunter put up daily that get deleted. Zero. How many post when other classes gripe/complain and put up constructive posts- all the time. Enough said, hell dks made a whiny thread about death strike and got immediate responses an clarification. When those warlock changes went through, and that warlock Zaryhm was right there going zomg ur rite derpderp. Just about every class gets blue clarification/responses regarding issues. Hunter threads from mega/braindeadly and other hunters get ignored and deleted. Hunters walk a horrible line atm, fine in pve, and absoluetly broken in rated PVP. Focus was a craptastic system thrown together that revolves quite well around dragons who stand there and derp and let you turret, try that in a 2200+ rated enviroment. Any plans on fixing all the issues/bugs and real problems with this class and its system. NOPE but your spells got new effects! So yes its a neglected class.
Thats right, we pay to access their game, and play on their servers, great point to argue, its why WoW dropped 500k subs because of the same I dont gotta do shiiiiit attitude. I'm dissapointed with the way this game has gone and class development, as for now, I don't pay them any money, I haven't in months, I'm on gamecards getting ready to expire shortly, (bought a few with my gold so I had something to do until my new computer was up and running so I can play rift, that way no one can say can i haz ur gold).
For the record, I used to love this game, I've played it since vanilla, I'd probally still be playing longer if they took the same approach to it they used to. They don't though so I'd rather play a game that gives a better level of effort into class development and problems/issues addressing it.
As for shiny new pets this xpac? you have to be kidding me, that was sarcastic. You mean the 5 new pet species that are nothing other then leveling/questing pets. None of them belong in rated PVP, like i said dont mention that monkey, it was a broken mechanic that was hotfixed. You bring any of those pets into a 5m or raid, your just hurting the group or raid and being bad when you could bring something useful buffwise that helps.

I've been thinking this too. Part of me thinks that Blizzard should just stop giving the hunter community new pets of any kind because no matter what, we're all a bunch of whiners that can't just sit back and be happy we even get new stuff.
Do any of you know how long warlocks have been wanting new demons? Or to go "tame" their own demons? Even just to give their demons a name like hunters can with their pets? Years. Years and years of crying, whining, and pleading, and instead it's the hunter class that gets the continuous love.
Like I said in another thread: It's one thing to say that you don't like a pet and that it's color/skin/style isn't for you, it's a completely different thing to add negative modifiers like "lame" and "lazy" to it as if you are some how entitled to any new pets at all.
Perhaps Blizzard should make their hunters more like Rift's where you don't get to choose which pets you have? It's certainly not nearly as awesome as the system we have now, but it's not as if we even deserve the new pets we're getting anyway.

Lets address the NEW and RARE bit?
Are they new? Yes. There is no Anhka or Magria in the game. Gondria is purple. There is no green or blue spectral tiger in this game. Therefore it is NEW.
Are they rare? *looks to the Silver Dragon portrait* The game says yes.
So Blizzard gave us exactly that. New and Rare.

Actually, Azu, the overall tone of this thread has been more along the lines of constructive criticism, pinpointing exactly why people were disappointed. The "yay rares!" threads are all over the place, so it's fair that we have a "meh these rares" thread too, especially when it's not accusatory or whiny.
We're starting to get a bit off track in terms of focus, though. Try to stay focused on the subject at hand, rather than the general state of hunters please.

This thread's been avoiding the heavy animosity on both sides, so don't fall off the wagon now!

I have to say, I'm happy for people who are excited about the new rares, but I am not one of them. The spirit beasts are just more of the same -- recolours and a bird, and all are see-through when what I've really been hoping for is another non-transparent SB, like Loque'nahak or Skoll. Also, the spiders are interesting colour schemes, but they are just spiders. Unless you're a spider lover, as a BM, you're more likely to use a silithid or shale spider, for their buffs.
It just seems like we're getting more of stuff we're not asking for, while what we've been clammering for *cough Hydras* have been ignored.
Just my two cents. Don't take it personally.

I would have loved it if one of the new cats wasn't transparent but still had those smoke effects. That would be...

Alot of us are trying to communicate this, were not gonna fall over starstruck like many believe we should, were pointing out the obvious problems with whats going on, sure some of us are happy, but the majority of us arent. I don't want gondria different colors that were concieved of years ago that never made it in. Again years old. The owl is nothing more then olm with the alpha cranked up. Spiders, we got plenty of spiders who cares. They haven't began to address any of our class issues and problems, instead we got new trap effects/spell effects. If nothing of that sort was changed, you could have taken 5 minutes at the drawing board and came up with a new concept/idea. They didn't though, so yes alot of an already frustrated community is irritated, you can't take the time to fix class issues or give us something fresh? Yes alot of us think thats lazy giving us 2-3 year old models, a 6 year old model, and 1 brand new model of the same specieis.
How about taking the time to make pets better or viable in competive and rated enviroments, be it PVP or raiding. Sorry if you don't like our opinions, but thats how it stands.

There are far more responses across the entirety of the hunter community, from here, to mmo champ hunters, to offical hunter forums viewing it as unfavourable. As for the new rares, sure many petopians may be clamoring with glee and adoration for blizzard, there is nothing wrong with it, some of us aren't. There a countless threads and responses on these forums, mmo, and offical that aren't so impressed. this is something we've stated, and alot of the animosity breeding in here comes from players who believe were acting like spoiled children and taking negative stance on us acting like were wrong to voice our opinions on it.

"alot of the animosity breeding in here comes from players who believe were acting like spoiled children and taking negative stance on us not acting like they want us to for voicing our opinions on it"
I care to argue that. No, that has not been the cause, if you ask me. There have been several more important causes, and not once was that ever brought up. Yes, it was said the attitude of "STFU or get out" was mentioned, but that was resolved. Key issues have been along the lines of rather hostile debate, sniping, and continued passive aggression.
Furthermore, yeah. There are going to be people who don't like it. And there are going to be people who think that's silly. We're not saying, "NO OPINION FOR YOU." We're saying, "Really? After the number of things we've gotten, you're still unhappy?"
To be honest, I don't give a damn about the pets. Not at all. I'm not partial nor against them. None of them scream, "PICK ME." I'm happy with my Gondria, happy avoiding WoW really. It's not too exciting anymore.
That said, Kalli was right, this was a thread for constructive criticism, so let me try to word it like this:
Personally, I think Blizz is doing a-okay giving us these models now, so they get it over with. Sure, griefing now, but no one is forcing anyone to go out and get them. I mean, who knows what they're planning? Making a new model/family/skin takes a lot of work and animating to work right, so sometimes, it's a lot easier to just reskin something. And if you don't like it, ah well. Pity for you. There will be more models, and more pets.

This is the first time anything of this nature has been introduced for Hunters. It's a completely new taming process, one that has a lot of promise and excitement for the future. I'm sure with the feedback they receive they will continue to tweak the idea of these Challenging Tames and probably introduce more in later patches. Don't dwell on the individual creatures and their lack of special appearance...it's not as though these are the last rares and spirit beasts we'll ever see added. The focus on this was the taming experience itself, and probably to gauge how that all worked out. Existing models were used to get them out there into the game. Might as well, right? Later on I'm sure we'll see Blizzard build upon this idea and bring more of what we love, and we can probably expect the shiny new models then. As an initial event, I think the focus now is on the tricks and methods needed to capture these beasts. I have no qualms with people who dislike the new beasts themselves, there's only one that I'm going after myself, I'm just perplexed at those who much be so vitriolic in their opinions when really we're just seeing a glimpse of what's to come. Let them lay the groundwork for this new feature, and later on they can polish it and focus on the beasts themselves. There's no obligation to go after these new rares if that's not what interests you. It's an optional aspect for those Hunters who enjoy the thrill of the hunt and the strategy of a difficult tame, and I think it's fantastic that they've put the work into making this happen.
