I originally heard of him when doing a ficitonal book on the egyption gods, I needed to find the death god and he came up on first search. XD, I love the jackel head.

Strictly speaking, Anubis is not the god of death. That's a bit more of the purview of Osiris, his foster father. Anubis is the guide of the dead, he who shows the deceased the way to the scales where their heart is balanced for purity against the feather of Ma'at. If the feather is heavier than the heart, then the deceased passed the test and is conducted on to the afterlife. If the heart is heavier than the feather, on the other hand, the deceased has failed, and Anubis feeds the heart to a beast with the head of a crocodile, forepaws of I think a lion, and the hindquarters of a hippo. In other words, the deceased is damned.

One of my favorite takes on Anubis is in Neil Gaiman's American Gods. In that book, he and Thoth are running a mortuary under the pseudonyms of Ibbis and Jakkel.

Probably the only time that Blizz should've stuck with the Blood Elf male body build.
Not to steroid, but not too skinny either.

The guys at Blizz are apparently addicted to bodybuilder-type males. I try not to read too far into that, but I do wonder sometimes....

Nothing to be read into it.. just look at the glands on the females in the artwork as well, everything is bigger in WoW.

Anubis was the original, it was Osiris who took over after he died himself, but treufully Anubis was the God of Death. That job was taken from him when Seth killed Osiris and Anubis took over the job of mumification [the preperations to the land of the dead]. Anubis is also sort of the guardian of the dead as many people said that jackels roamed around the pyrimids as if to ward away grave robbers.

back on topic...sort of. The thing that bugs me the most about MMO's and video games in general is that the characters that are playable ar all to...Humanoid! I'd love to play one of these cat people or even the Dryads...I much prefer playing something more bestial then humanoid...the tauren and the worgen are the most beasial, but they are still of humanoid build...I want to run on all fours in a game...Main reason why the druid feral forms are my favourite. But again they are still limited in that the form does not change to represent armor or weapons...Poof, i am a naked kitty!

I agree that too many MMOs have the same old boring races... just resized/recolored humans and elves. I mean, come on now, come up with something original!
