They have hinted at a Blacksmithing mount in the past.
It does look quite blacksmithy.

There's nothing concrete announced, but this was my suspicion as well. They DID say that if you help them out in beta AND buy a pack of cards from the store in beta then they'll give you a "reward" for your help at the end. It does seem to fit.
Also (unrelated to the pegasus but related to new equine mounts), has anyone mentioned the
Iron Hitching Post? If this is the source of the other iron horse (and it seems to fit) then it may not be a learned mount at all. If so, I wonder if it's maybe a blacksmithing or eng item, or if it's a new TCG item like the original hitching post. The stack size of 250 suggests TCG to me.
ooo I like the idea of a iron mount for friends!!
esp since the new raid is outdoors haha!!

I don't.. it means its only a temp mount.. but wheres the fun in that.. my mount collector side of me is really sad lol

So is there any hard proof this is from Hearthstone? Like real proof yet or is this just what people are thinking it will be from? I'm lost :S

Theres proof the achievement literally says thats where it comes from, I saw it on MMO Champion.

Well if it's from the beta only that's lame as it's so far North America only. They said in the FAQ they "hope" to do it in other places but I would not count on it :/
But one can live in hope they'll make it so everyone can get it.

Well, we know it's a Hearthstone promotion. We don't actually know whether it's for the beta or live.
