I did not do any Hyjal quests... I just got me some fire resist stuff (drums, and lesser elixir), potion of speed, core hound, and L.83 with quested greens.

Haste was about 15% before anything else... using the macro (pretty much the same as the one mentioned above) after using the drums and lesser elixir... he hit me for 5,000 instead of 10,000 on each tick... at the end of the tame I had about 50% health left. Cast time on my Tame Beast after the macro was about 4-5sec.

After I tamed him I flew down south and saw an 81 Tauren Hunter standing there with a core hound... I told him that I had just tamed him and he told me that he had tried and died less than 5min earlier. I had just logged on (6am my time) before getting ready for work, and was scared to death with Silver Dragon going off.... I never saw the other hunter til I had already tamed him and was headed after a mining node. He asked me how I had done it and I informed him if the drums, lesser elixir, and potion of speed, and he congratulated me.

I felt bad, because I had not seen him prior to me getting the tame. But honestly... if I had seen him die to Terrorpene, I would have probably tamed him anyway. I know that sounds bad, but I had been looking for him off and on since 81... about every hour or so I would hearth back to Org and fly to his spawn point to look for him... it was kinda getting old... but I didn't want to just camp there and not gain levels...

So I had originally seen Terrorpene on Petopia here and thought WOW I love the looks of him. I was thinking oh I won't worry about him he is another Rare Elite and I don't want to camp him like I did Skoll. I hit 85 on my hunter yesterday after a long draining trip and thought today I will take it easy and quest my druid in Hyjal as I hadn't gone there with my Hunter really other than to explore the map. As I'm questing with my druid I saw Nemesis now confusing Nemesis with Terropene I panicked and jumped onto my hunter and got to Hyjal right away. Oh my did I feel retarded. So I jumped on petopia while sitting out there to double check and then found the location where Terro was supposed to be. Figuring what the heck I'll go check it out for the heck of it maybe camp for a little bit. Well I was barely there 15 minutes if that farming Obsidian when it spawned and reading other peoples tames here when BAM there he was and then Silver Dragon went off and I was certain. So I landed and with 15% health remaining after simply clicking Tame Beast at 85 I did it. I tamed him now next to my Devilsaur - Grimlock , my Corehound - Dracomagus, I shall be accompanied by Infrtortalis

Just about an hour ago, I had a dream of Terrorpene swimming across the lava (which woke me up). So I had to go check it out in the middle of night and there he was...
I think I had so much haste I only saw 3 ticks of damage (3-5k per tick) in my combat log.

Question: is it just me or Terrorpene's shell ability graphic doesn't show?

I had actually forgotten about Terrorpene, and I started leveling in Vashj'ir so I never ran across him. Then I was looking through the site and ran across a picture of him... I've been camping since yesterday, and have spent maybe six hours total since yesterday evening looking. After a few hours of randoms with the guild I decided to take a quick fly down to his home and see if he was there. I swung around to the southern tip and sat for a few minutes, then decided to do a couple circuits around the lava lake before bed. Sure enough near the north tip there he was, swimming around minding his business. I plopped down an the nearest rock and set to taming. Being level 85 I had a fairly easy time of it, and shortly he was mine!

Just decided to do a loop around hyjal since i havnt been there yet.
Saw a 81 hunter trying it, and dieing.
Waited for him to res up and asked if i could try, he said yes since he already tried 8 times and died each time.
Even at 85 my hp was down to 30% without any res pots or haste stuff.(almost all 333 stuff)
Now i just need a name for it.

Just wanted to add my Terrorpene story to this thread. I tamed him at 4.03am server time, in the southern most part of the lava.
I'd begun my camp at 21.00 and saw this spawn in front of my eyes.



I bought TBC fire res gear(!), 3 pieces for 350 JP (approx), and with drums of forgotten kings and a 25 res potion (AH was empty), I had 220 fire resist (give or take 5 resist)

As you can see, deterrence worked for the first cast of Burning Hatred, and I took the rest of the damage.

He really is a lovely pet and I'm very happy to have him

I am soooo mad, I saw him the first day Cata released, and I tried taming him and died a billion times. /cries

Tamed at 9:30pm server time on Suramar and yea, this guy hits like a ton o' bricks

Edit: Thanks to Kojjiro's tip, I snagged my own Terrorpene at 3:03am! Logged on a bit early to check just in case...and my heart jumps as the drums thunder and horns blare. Forced myself to think, ate my Manta Ray Steak and popped drums, runescroll, and flask of resistance. Triggered Uruloke's Hysteria and dismissed, chugged Potion of Speed, cast Deterrence and started taming.

Hehe finally got him this morning at 12:07 realm time on outland, heres my story

The night before i had been camping for 8 hours and no sign of him so i went to sleepys

(skipping ahead the morning)

eitherway my dad asked me to grab the christmass tree outa the garage, and through the garage walls i heard " DAN I THINK YOUR PET IS HERE, I HEARD I HORN " which was my npc scan going of so i popped down the tree in the living room and, eat a prismatic exlire, drums of kings, speed potion , elixier of mighty speed and a scroll of fortitude, that made my FR 147 and my health rocket up to 56k, ( im 81 and on 44k atm ) tame took half the bar of the taming process so about 4 seconds in total, and then i was happy YAY !

Well, i can confirm it isnt 6 hours.

I saw him get killed at 9pm ish last night.

Ive been here ever since, definatly didnt spawn at 3 am, or 9 am, which would be 6 hours and 12 hours spawn time.

Im still waiting for him, but he definatly hasnt spawned and its been nearly 17 hours.

For the record, i have slept, and had someone else take over for a few hours.

My turn! On Emerald Dream, five minutes ago.

I haven't done any camping for him. I expected he would be heavily camped, and so basically was just doing occasional fly-bys for him. Every time I thought of it, I would whisper a guildie who was leveling, farming, or whatever the area and ask if they could check. Naturally, nothing came of it, but I was mostly satisfied.

Today, I decided that I'm going to start actually questing. I asked for a random pet to help start me off with it, but also decided that I would do my usual fly-by. And what do you know? Terrorpene! Hands shaking, I slapped a tame on him.... and died badly.

Panicking, I returned and grabbed a seat. I had no stamina food, but I *did* have some food to heal me, a stamina scroll, and Drums Of Kings (which I happily used both of). Then, I slapped my tank gear on, giving me around 76k HP, and started taming, praying all the while. Second time was the charm!



Now, what to name him... or is it a her?

EDIT: Man. I only just noticed with that picture that he matches my dwarf perfectly with coloration. I'm even more pleased now.

I think if you can just stack food, pots, elixirs for haste and get a corehound for his bloodlust effect.. you will have no problem taming. I had NO fire resist gear. Haste is the key.

Tamed at lvl 83. (Waited approx. 11 hours for him to spawn.) Had seen a hunter earlier in the day who said they had just tamed him. So I am guessing my spawn was at approx. 18 hours after hers. I had 57k health and 10% haste from gear, equipped two brewfest trinkets for a little extra health, ate the latest haste food buff, took an elixir of lightening speed. Had my corehound out. He spawned. I popped his bloodlust effect, dismissed him, drank potion of speed and just hit tame and prayed. (Didn't tag him as I think I got in an extra second of tame there.) Must have tamed him in under 4 secs. as you can see my health was at 50%. So he only hit me 3 times with his fire. LOVE LOVE him! A true MUST HAVE! =)

As a note, he spawned 5 1/2 hours after Kojjiro's tame, if not sooner--I logged in and he was nearby when I did a sweep, so no idea exactly when.

So, guild was gonna do some heroics. Me and another DPS both wanted to go, but i figured id just let him go and i would farm some ore on my warrior. Flying around Hyjal, and i spot the best turtle in the game. Instantly log out and on to my hunter, fly out to Hyjal, and hes still there. Dismiss my crab, concussive (after taming him i realized that was useless haha), tame. One more tick of the damage and i would have died. D:

Is his only spawn point that NE corner of the lava pool?..

After 3 days of nearly constant camping, and one missed tame earlier today just before server restarts (by less than a minute), Terrorpene spawned at 6 pm pm server time in the southern lava area, as I was fighting one of thos elite giants to pass some time. I'm guessing it was his first spawn after the restart, as I spent 3 hours looking after servers came back up, and no sign of him then. This time, at least, he spawned 10 minutes shy of 11 hours after Whisperwind came back online.

I was lucky the horde hovering near me was either AFK or wasn't interested in griefing me, he was hovering there the whole time, so thanks to that guy

Figured I'd register for the sake of posting my story and my observations with his spawn.

Been camping him on and off since I hit 85 after I got Sambas.

One day I flew over to Hyjal to check on him and saw another Horde Hunter hanging out there waiting for him. Left him be but asked him to send me a mail if/when he catches him with the server time of taming and said I'd do the same.

Today I get a mail saying the other hunter got him at 6:22AM. I missed the 6 hour mark, so I waited for the 12. There was a lvl81 Hunter there, Alliance. I'd seen him off and on at the camp, he'd ganked me once while I was AFK.

As soon as he sees me, a Rogue and a Paladin, both 85 show up to reinforce him. So I know even if he does spawn now I'm not going to get him. 6:22 server rolls around and no spawn. I decide to hang out for a bit anyway. About 10 minutes later, he spawns. After some PVP where I was extremely out gunned, he ended up getting him. I figured I'd just come back at the 6 hour mark and then the 12 again. Which should have been 12:35 and 3:35 AM.

So I left to go write a paper for a final, and got fed up with it, so I logged back in at 11:18 PM. I left myself logged out where he spawns and lo and behold there he is, quite a bit ahead of schedule.

Anyway, using this post to confirm that he's not a 6 hour spawn and he's not even a 12 hour spawn. He re spawned in less than 6 hours for me. So I don't know what kind of table he's on. The other Horde Hunter and I speculated it may be like Sholazar, and tied to other rare spawns in the zone. Who knows.

Oh, the other thing. I was using the macro to Hysteria, drop pet and tame him. I decided at one point to test it out to make sure it worked. I didn't realize when I copied it, the script was ABANDON pet. So I ended up losing my Chromaggus in this whole ordeal. Now I have to go back to Blackwing Lair. :\

So after hating on heroics all day, I get into a Throne of Tides failgroup and leave....remember that I did log out in the lava pools in Hyjal guess who was there to console me up in the northeastern corner of the spawn zone....I GIVE YOU SLOWBURN!

Congrats to everyone who has tamed him! I'm currently running circles around this pit of lava waiting for him to spawn, and I'm about on my last string of sanity. I am known in my guild to be patient and camp for rare spawns (I've camped for hours on end for King Krush, Aotona, and Sambas, with very happy results), but I think Terrorpene is going to be the last straw.. and I still want to tame Ghostcrawler and Madexx. ;~;
