A friend and I discussed this often. I think it'd be neat if, when you hit exalted with one of the 5 home factions, you can start a quest chain or something to learn that faction's language. It would make sense RPwise too, since it is pretty smart to learn the language of people you deal with often. What do you guys think?
Mostly inspired by walking around Undercity. Those guys never talk in Orcish if they can help it. I wanna know what they're saying!

It think that at one point there actually was a way to learn another race's language, but it was removed. I can't recall why....

I know undead used to speak common, but they removed it due to language abuse.
I can't see why they'd want to stop, say, a tauren from learning Thalassian though...or a troll learning gutterspeak.

Hrm....well, I'd still love it. It'd make sense lore-wise, and provided it's not cross-faction, it could add an interesting twist to the game. Not even really required, just a vanity sort of thing.
I know my hunter Silinrul story-wise has a lot of interaction with dwarves, and even has a home-away-from-home in Ironforge. It'd make sense that she is able to speak at least some of their language because she works with them so often. I pretend she does if I'm semi-rping, but still...

Like that still doesn't happen with human/nelf rogues running around XR screaming with a macro 'M E L O V E Y O U'? And in AV.
And in Bloodhoof.
And in WSG.
To be honest I like the fact that you can't understand another language, as I've used/abused it for speech in some chapters of a story that's on hiatus.
Now if it was for other races...
>_>
I want to speak Dragon nao plz.

Well, there was also a quest, Draconian for dummies, that they made award he language Draconian, but that too was removed.
Not to mention all the people who THINK they can speak
cross-faction with the /e command. I tell them that it's useless, but "no it works u just dont know how".

That's probably the one I'm thinking of. I couldn't remember which language it was exactly, but Draconian is ringing bells. LOL

Capitol idea, not just learning your allied factions, but languages of other races as well. I wanna know what "Shaloska" means and if I should need to take a shower after those blubbery walrus men call me that!
