For the...Horde?

So, my husband and I are considering changing sides. We both REALLY like our dwarves, but the Horde side is more appealing. If we'd know when we started...but, we didn't. Has anyone switched sides? If so, how did it go? I figure we'd end up Orcs if we do this.

Personally I ended up disliking it very much...it was fun for a while and then I hated it. Thats probably just the environment I was in but /shrug.. to each their own. I've been alli since I started WoW and it felt wrong changing tbh - if thats your cup of tea do it though.. I just had a bad experiance

^ This.
I've been Horde since day 1 and I've met some great people. A few people I'm friends with started off as Alliance and switched to Horde and have enjoyed it. Other people I know started off as Horde, switched to Ally, hated it, and now want to come back.
But, it's all personal preference, and who you get to know, so all I can say is good luck and welcome to the cool side

It really depends on the server, mine's horde based so being horde is great.

I'd say try it out. I play both alliance and horde, and i've found both sides fun. Personal experience, however, is that horde is more mature, and actually use better BG strategies than "ZOMG ZERG rtards!". On the countrary, alliance tend to have an easier time raiding.
As for world PvP? It depends on the server. As do the communities. And the PvP. And the raiding.

The first few toons I rolled were Horde. Then I tried some Alliance toons. I ended up going Alliance only because of the people I met. I got 3 toons to 20 on the horde side and never met anyone that was nice or helpful to me. I think I got my first Alliance toon to level 5 and was already in a guild being mentored. That being said, if the people I met were on the opposing sides, I'd be Horde right now. I still want to get some horde toons going one day. A troll hunter, an orc warrior, and an undead mage are on my list.

I'm predominantly alliance as well. However, I do have my little blood elf hunter, Terania, for two purposes: 1. To rtry pets I've never leveled with before. 2. See horde side content before Cata kills it all off.
I've find that I'm very lonely horde side, and people don't do much RP (There's a good chance you can go to SW, plunk down, RP, and someone will show up.) or are generally annoying.

My husband and I played a dwarf team a LONG time ago. We switched to the Horde, and have had a blast since. So much so, I even made my dwarf horde.

We decided to switch servers all together and ended by accident up on a server where there is a large, active horde population, which probably helped.
If only dwarfs could be horde. :

They belong on the good side. Let the alliance have the blood elves or something.

Honestly... The only thing keeping me Horde right now is the Petopian Guild... I dont like the Horde... I love Alliance and I would kill to be a Dwarf again.. if only the guild was with me.

Horde, hands down. You will not regret it, and if you do, then you don't deserve to be Horde anyway.

When I started playing WoW I had a Dwarf Hunter, and I loved playing him (very, very badly in retrospect). But I grew to hate the Alliance - their politics, motives, agendas, it all rankled. They are so hypocritical it actually made playing the game not very fun at all.
Since this was back in vanilla WoW, faction change was not possible, so I stuck with my Dwarf, and kept saying to my friends "I wish I could move my Dwarf to the Horde". I think the Dwarves are awesome, and my Dwarf Hunter was an extension and fuller realisation of the Dwarf Ranger I had been playing for a good few years in NWN on-line on an RP persistent world recreation of the Earthspur Mountains region of Faerun.
Anyways, I eventually switched to Horde with a Tauren Druid and fell in love with the faction. I eventually made a Hunter again and went through TBC with that character. I left the game for a bit and came back with some friends and made a Shaman whom I still play a fair bit, but I missed my Hunter but because I'm a bit OCD-addled, I had to start again, rather than picking up a dormant character, and that was this guy.
So yeah, once I went Horde I never looked back. It's so much better than Alliance.

I think this is very true. The few times I've gone horde (on a few toons, not everyone) in the past, it's not been fun. Now, I have horde toons with Petopians and my friend and I have a small horde-side guild on Ysera, and having friends to play with makes all the difference.
Teigan, since you'll be playing with your hubby you'll probably enjoy it, especially if you find you connect more with the lore/races/characters horde-side. Of course there's nothing saying you have to be purely one faction.

I have both an alliance and horde lvl80 and while my alliance is my main I have to say if you like bgs usually horde is the place to be. They work together support each other and communicate much more effectively most times. I find this to be true most times in dungeons pugs as well. Their auction house prices seem to be outrageous at least on my server. I suggest making an alt and checking that out before you decide to switch.

Have you been listening in on our conversations?!? lol
This all started after we did the Wrathgate quest line (from the Alliance side obviously). My god. Apologies to those who like King Wrynn, but...dang, I think he's the cause of all the World's problems! Then we watched the Horde obliterate SW over and over and over while all the other lvl 80s just stood there and watched. I play my Horde toons quite a bit and am established enough Horde side to have a bank toon and all and I've seen the Allies come in...but not repeatedly and with out being fought. Granted my most established Horde enclave is on a different server, but even with the Hordies I have my my main server I've never seen this. And the Horde players are generally more tolerable on my main server and Horde server, there's more a sense of humor in the game itself, from the Horde side. We both love the Taurens, Trolls, Orcs and soon Goblins, where the only Allie race we like is dwarves, and soon Worgen.

In my experience the Horde are more mature, helpful, and less idiotic. I have also noticed that on almost every server I've been on Ally trade chat makes Vanilla Barrens chat look like a meeting between Steven Hawking, Plato, Aristotle, Ptolomy, and Einstien. The only reason I am on my ally toons so much is cause most of my friends are alliance. Though I am trying and slowly succeeding in turning them to Horde. To cut it short though .......I would hands down vote horde if this was a poll.

It's funny, people always say this, but the random dungeons I've run on my faction changed druid (so Northrend dungeons and now heroics) have been much, much worse horde-side on Stormstrike. Alliance side, I find there's generally a friendlier tone or silence, but I've seen so. much. namecalling horde-side. It's painful. I also see more reportable names and guild names (say, Bustinhoes and his faithful raptor, Beatinhoes. Lovely, innit?) horde-side. Anyway, I don't want to make any generalisations about either faction's players, I assume I've just been unlucky.
Teigan, if you're really more attached to the horde in terms of faction lore etc., then I say go for it. Take the plunge, why not? Your main playing partner will be switching with you, after all.
