Questions for Beta Access users

If you're like me, you don't want to spoil yourself with beta for WoW Forever, so ask your questions here and hopefully some of our lovely petopians with upcoming beta access will be able to answer. :D

Some of my burning questions:
- Are there still super rare pets like in OG Classic? For example, Humar the Pridelord or Araga?
- Do certain pets still have special perks? Such as Brokentooth having higher attack speed?
- Any NEW pet mobs that seem to match either of the above scenarios?

I personally miss rare hunting so much and the excitement of finally claiming that special pet. :)

As a committed Hunter main, I will do my best to return to this topic periodically throughout the beta and answer any questions.

I love testing things, so questions might help remind me to look into extra stuff. I should say though, we will be limkted to lvl 20 and later 30 in this beta, so anything I find is conditional to those level ranges.

Here are some of the things I have noticed:
- Pets still use the training points system. Skills available through pet trainer appear to be identical to vanilla.

- Hunters do not get the "training" notifications when learning new skills from tamed pets. I have not confirmed it, but I am pretty sure you automatically learn the skills of any pet you table because I spend a lot of time waiting for the message in chat to show I have learned an ability, but it never showed. Then, when I got a new pet the last ability just showed up in the training list.

- Pets scale with hunter stats. Pets get 10% of hunter ranged or melee attack power, whichever is higher. They also get 100% of hunter crit chance. Pet stat sheet also does NOT show their own primary stats like Str/Agi. They were either removed or hidden, but i assume they were removed to avoid excessive stacking of buffs on top of the new AP/crit conversion. Edit: After testing it with a druid mark of the wild buff, they were NOT able to buff my pet with mark, so the primary stats are completely removed. They were able to apply Thorns though. I will try to find a paladin to test a pure attack power buff like might.

- Pet attack speeds in Teldrassil and Southshore beasts are identical to vanilla(so the hunt for Broken Tooth is probably still around)

- Models for beasts in those zones is largely the same. The only pets that seem different are owls which are considerably smaller now and their models have dark accents instead of being purely white.

- I have not seen any new abilities for any of the beasts in the aforementioned two zones. We do know from BlizzCon that later on Owls get a disarm skill though; we just don't seem to get it early.

- Aggressive pet stance is replaced by Assist Stance

- Pet killing a mob with absolutely no contribution from the hunter gives XP and allows looting, where in the past the kill did not count unless the hunter contributed

Edit: I forgot to mention that now you can hover over stats and see exactly how they work and what contributes to them. This is how I found the AP and Crit conversion.
Edit2: I also forgot to mention that as a lvl 13, I did not get the beast lore skill that we used to get at lvl 10 if I remember right.

I think this is it for now.

It’s about time we get assist stance in a kind of older version of wow. I wonder what families the zephras isle beasts will be in, if there are new ones or placed in older ones

I missed to add:
- Stamina: 1 stamina for the hunter gives 2hp for the pet
- Armor: 30% of hunter armor converts to pet

Hi! Just correcting a few things I've experienced:

1. You do get a notification in chat when you learn a skill from a tamed pet though it's the same yellow as a bunch of other stuff so it's super easy to miss. You don't automatically learn skills from tamed pets, you have to use said pet and skill in combat. Friendship level didn't matter though as far as I could tell. Otherwise training is exactly like it is in classic.

2. I checked at the trainer and we get Beast Lore at level 24 which I believe is in line with normal classic? Not sure on this one. So we can run around and see what can be tamed way easier in two weeks!

3. Durator has some new creatures (with old models) including a whole swarm of spiders now that I believe can be tamed.

Additional finding:
- Skills: After looking through the unavailable training skills, I did not see any new skills outside of what we get from talents and Wyvern sting appears to be gone for good unless we get it from a quest or smth. i also did not see Aspect of the Viper, so rip easy mana

After paying a liitle more attention, you are correct. Spells do show in chat, but the reason I must have missed it is because it simply says the name of the spell without a rank, in yellow text. I confirmed this learning Claw(Rank 3) which showed as just "Claw"

Not too knowledgeable about hunter, but what I see so far, owls are now "bird of prey", and can therefor not learn the "demoralizing screech" from "carrion bird" anymore. Also the black owl model seems to now be in the game.

All I got so far.

Edit:
A little update on the black owl model:
Tamable at level 12 in Darkshore, behind the cursed highbornes. Mob is called Jai'vhanel, it is not rare, and spawns maybe every 2 minutes. It has no abilities. There is a new quest in Auberdine to kill this mob, so a lot of people come by.

Thanks for sharing your findings! I have a few questions of my own if anyone gets the chance to test:

1. Are quivers and ammo pouches still still provide ranged attack speed 🏹 ?
2. What is the maximum number of stable slots we can unlock 🛖 ?
3. Can we rename our pets 🐶 ?

So much great info so far, ty everyone!

If anyone happens to know if rares have a longer timer like in vanilla or if they're shorter now, would appreciate it to know! I know it's kind of a pain to check though. =/

Yes quivers still give ranged attack speed, also all cats have that annoying roar/yawn idle sound, tamed a lion and it does it now. :/

All pet Ive seen use the old pet models even if your character models are updated, unless they are new like pets in the Skyelf zone. :D

All three hunter specs have ways of regenerating mana in a talent near the bottom of the tree. Nearly every class I've looked at has some form of talent allowing mana regeneration to continue while casting. It varies between 30% and 50% from what I've seen, but all 3 hunter talents are 50%.
