If you're like me, you don't want to spoil yourself with beta for WoW Forever, so ask your questions here and hopefully some of our lovely petopians with upcoming beta access will be able to answer.
Some of my burning questions:
- Are there still super rare pets like in OG Classic? For example, Humar the Pridelord or Araga?
- Do certain pets still have special perks? Such as Brokentooth having higher attack speed?
- Any NEW pet mobs that seem to match either of the above scenarios?
I personally miss rare hunting so much and the excitement of finally claiming that special pet.
Here are some of the things I have noticed:
- Pets still use the training points system. Skills available through pet trainer appear to be identical to vanilla.
- Hunters do not get the "training" notifications when learning new skills from tamed pets. I have not confirmed it, but I am pretty sure you automatically learn the skills of any pet you table because I spend a lot of time waiting for the message in chat to show I have learned an ability, but it never showed. Then, when I got a new pet the last ability just showed up in the training list.
- Pets scale with hunter stats. Pets get 10% of hunter ranged or melee attack power, whichever is higher. They also get 100% of hunter crit chance. Pet stat sheet also does NOT show their own primary stats like Str/Agi. They were either removed or hidden, but i assume they were removed to avoid excessive stacking of buffs on top of the new AP/crit conversion. Edit: After testing it with a druid mark of the wild buff, they were NOT able to buff my pet with mark, so the primary stats are completely removed. They were able to apply Thorns though. I will try to find a paladin to test a pure attack power buff like might.
- Pet attack speeds in Teldrassil and Southshore beasts are identical to vanilla(so the hunt for Broken Tooth is probably still around)
- Models for beasts in those zones is largely the same. The only pets that seem different are owls which are considerably smaller now and their models have dark accents instead of being purely white.
- I have not seen any new abilities for any of the beasts in the aforementioned two zones. We do know from BlizzCon that later on Owls get a disarm skill though; we just don't seem to get it early.
- Aggressive pet stance is replaced by Assist Stance
- Pet killing a mob with absolutely no contribution from the hunter gives XP and allows looting, where in the past the kill did not count unless the hunter contributed
Edit: I forgot to mention that now you can hover over stats and see exactly how they work and what contributes to them. This is how I found the AP and Crit conversion.
Edit2: I also forgot to mention that as a lvl 13, I did not get the beast lore skill that we used to get at lvl 10 if I remember right.
I think this is it for now.
