Warp Stalker Question

Hi my lovely people
Can anyone tell me whether Warp is usable 1) while in combat and 2) in melee range? It seems like it could be a pretty neat tanking ability since it's on a 15-second cooldown, but if they can only use it once per battle (like a warrior's Charge), then I'd be more inclined to pick up something else for tanking heroics with.
Thanks!!!

Yep to both! My Warpy Gahiji keeps on warpin' in combat! He'll usually warp behind his target or something like that, and gaining that lovely dodge thingy along the way! It's also very useful for switching from one target to another, especially if the new target is across the room mauling someone! (Like the healer! lol)
I'd deffinitely suggest getting a Warpy for a tank pet! They're amazing little things! And not only do they look gorgeous, they have one of the best pet tanking abilities ever! (And in my opinion, they're just plain adorable)

The answer is yes to both. From what I've experienced anyway.
Edit: lol, looks like Senna-Umbreon beat me.

Best of all, you don't need to put a point in charge, cause they insta warp to the target! that's an extra point you can use somewhere else. You may not even need boar's speed either cause warp pops them right back at them, though I still spec it ^^;

I usually put a point in Charge anyway...my warp stalkers have only ever used it when they need to get somewhere quick and Warp is on cooldown. And it's a nice little root for one point. But that's just me. I can't wait for the new stables so I can get my little warping lizard back with a spiffy new blue skin.

Warp Stalker:
"Now you see me. Now you don't!"
They sure are cute for being iguanas.

I miss my Warp Stalker. I was thinking of picking up one, though I'm not as fond of the blue-green and white skins. They're pretty, but I'd prefer a blue-blue...or maybe a red...
I always loved this one:
It was my favorite after Gezzarak the Huntress.

I'll always be happy with Gezz, she has served me well :3 Warp Stalkers are easy my fav tanking pet, have been sense my hunter first laid eyes on them.

So far I'm liking him (got the blue-green one) a lot better than the bear I kept for a couple minutes.

I named him Blitz but I think I'll name him something else. But as far as tanking, Warp really does come in handy! I'm not terribly fond of their faces (the cobra-like hood doesn't do it for me), but they're still pretty nifty. I'll keep him a bit longer and see if I like him as much as or more than turtles.
(I agree with you on the red skin, it's my favorite - moreso than Gezz)

I tried a warpy on my second hunter for grins and love her! She's fantastic! So much personality (along with worms), and warp is AMAZING O.o;

I keep hearing so many good things about warp stalkers... I'm definitely getting one in Cata, but I'm getting antsy for it.

*nods* I think I'll end up getting one either way, even though I'll probably have to go against the personal 'promise' I made to myself.
I adore Warp Stalkers, they're like a combination of some of my favourite creatures (dragon, snake, monitor lizard), however back in the day I swore that the only Warp Stalker I'd allow myself to own would be the purple one: Gezzarak.
I'm still clinging to a small thread of hope that miraculously she'll become tameable again in Cataclysm, or that we'll find another beast using that model.
If not, though, I fear she'll never be tameable if she isn't in Cata. If that's the case I may just give up on that dream and go for a dark green or a blue one. :'(

I would be sad
for you if they don't put in at least one tameable purple warp stalker.

I hope I get my red one, too!
Edit: If I can't get a red one, then how about a non-color-changing green one?

Come ooooon Blizz!!!

I would kill for a non color changing red and blue. As soon as the stupid report feature works in Beta, I'm am going to request/suggest one and how they'd make hunters everywhere squee with delight. I might even throw in a suggestion for a tamable Gezz skin as well....Yay for friends in Beta, huh?

I'd be very grateful, Azu. <3
If I have to get the colour changing one, though, I will. I really want the blue/red one. I had a colour changing dire wolf named Samsa, but that name would be even more appropriate with a constantly changing warpie, wouldn't it?

Hehehe. Only problem with the color changer is he never chooses the blue red skin, always the ugly (imo.) olive green/blue skin! It really drives me nuts. xD

I kinda sorta like that one too though, so I'm ok with that. The colour I don't like is the white one. I'd definitely be resummoning him when he picks that colour.

*patpat* I know how you feel. The ghost wolves use to be the only wolf I ever wanted, I worked by butt off once I learned of it and started getting all the items ready. When Blizz said they were keeping the pet as is there was no rush to taming it, just had to wait for friends to be on and get sorted out. The day we planed to do it (a day when they would all be on) is the day blizz hotfixed it so the ghost wold couldn't be tamed. To my sadness we all were out there ready to preform then find the 'Cannot be tamed'; flag on my stunning ghost wolf. It was outrageous to have blizz go back on their word when they said they liked how people used the game mechanics and would leave it in.
I almost missed out on gezz myself, I experimented for days trying to find away to tame her, her warp always broke tame (how that one solo tamed and didn't have the 'warp' brake tame is beyond me) so many friends tried to help with it, ended up having to chain stun in order to keep the warp or the agro dump from accruing. It was two days later that she too was fixed so she couldn't be tamed.
I learned, if you find out a cool pet is out there that can be tamed, do not waste any time. It's why I also now currently have my blue bug in hopes of it changing skins, and debating dropping my beloved chimera to grab the other.
