Well, now that we know about the Oil-Stained Wolf, I got to wondering. Does the quest in Zul'Drak (Horde only perhaps?) that involves sedating Icepaw Bears/Leopards and erm, gender-checking them, despawn the animals before they then follow you? Or do they just go friendly?

I've done it already so I can't check, but I'm curious about that. It's not a buff so maybe it wouldn't work anyway, but it's worth an ask, do any hunters still have that quest? If they despawn, could you try finishing a tame as someone gender-checks them? Maybe see if you'd get an Iceclaw (or is it Icepaw) bear with glowy paws?

Edit: fixed, thanks, wasn't sure which was which. Apparently the Ice Claw Bears are in Dun Morogh

Oooh that would be awesome! I just recently did the quest on Sara and sadly Aoani isn't anywhere near Northrend, but I'd loooooove one of those bears. <3

i think we shouldn't even get started unfortuonally the icepaw bears dont have a buff called ice paws or something. i don't think taming whilst dissapearing would make any difference

Haha! You know I was thinking about this after I went to bed last night. After the Oil Wolf discovery, what other possible pets may be out there that can keep a unique aspect to them after taming? ^^

Blllaaaggghhh, on the midst on grabbing my bright-blue scorpion for the first time two years ago, I was hoping he would keep his ability to summon tiny bugs. Most likely won't ever work even at one of those blue moon, planets align moment.

I have this quest available right now, Acherontia if I don't have wife-aggro tonight I am going to try and do this.
Its for both factions - both ally and horde.
It'll be a perfect thing to do inbetween searching for Gondria for me I'll keep updated.

when you shoot the dart, you only have about 1-2 seconds till it falls asleep.


*Update, i had a male despawn in front of me. I put a trap down. going to keep figuring out if maybe theres a hidden timer for the tranq


**ok after a period of time, they despawn after sedation. its roughly about 45-50 seconds


*I give up for tonight. Ok heres a few things. Once I checked the tail just as it was despawning (by coincidence). It was a male who got caught in the ice trap for about 2 seconds then he despawned while ice trapped.

I think this may be a losing battle. Don't know for sure though. I'll maybe poke more around at it later too

I'm going to try this. I am going to go on my hunter and my friends hunter chars. I'm curious to see what happens.

After you shoot the dart, theres about 1-2 seconds of elgibility in there. I am going to have my friends character start taming the bear and then shoot the dart at it just as he's about to finish.

You have to be "not in combat" so we wouldn't be in the same party.

He has to get to 76 first (currently I think hes 75)

Sounds neat! Hopefully it's doable but...it sounds a little more complicated so I'm not holding my breath either.

Taigi hadn't done this quest either, and she's almost 75. If Royi is having trouble with it still by the time Taigi gets to the appropriate level, I can always enlist a few other Petopians and tranq icepaws for people while they try to tame....

A pre-req is the Harokan Relics quest ~ I think it might stem from the chain starting where you go check the Altar of Sssertus (mispell) from the guy at the Argent Stand.

Feel free. I'll look at getting a different hunter friend to help since my one friend is taking his sweet time to level through 75.

I don't think this will work, but I am curious about shooting the dart just as another hunter's tame is finishing to see what happens.

One other theory to try: If i'm able to shoot a dart and check gender right away (within that 1-2 seconds it takes for them to fall asleep) perhaps if another hunter's tame is just about finished that might lead to something...

No luck. Me and Aquillian tried for about 30 min tonight. we tried tranq shotting the bears, ice trapping and tranqing the bears, reg tranq/tame combos, nothing that gave any promise.

I dont think this is tamable, schucks..

Ironically, Acherontia herself was one to find out the trick to them...

So far its still not yet permanent But i'm going to try random things with the Tranq gun and that quest later to see if I can figure something out.
