This was a really old post, so now there is an in game option for you to turn off your 'idle pet sounds'.

If you go to options->sound, there is a box for 'enable pet sounds' just uncheck that box if you don't want to hear the idle pet noises.

I finally did this with a Spirit Beast. I'm not sure if the glitch was still there as strongly, but between the occasional Spirit Heals and Bloodlust procs, he was able to down the boss. Now I just need to find where Huhu is hiding. :D This made this TONS easier for me too. I kept trying with a ten...

This is neat! I have been working on getting pets lately, still have some to get so still a work in progress.
