Out dated information
When you hover over the Exotic tag on the page where you view all of the varieties of pets belonging to that exotic family, the exotic tag still reads that you need to be level 60 in order to tame the pet. In 4.0, its required to be level 69 to reach the Beast Mastery talent at the bottom.
