Re: PetEmote Addon - New shiny things
Client... Curse Client, I assume? Mine still shows PetEmote v1.8.0beta3 as the latest. I'm not sure how often they update the control files that the client uses, but the PetEmote page on Curse gives me v1.8.1 if I hit the Download button there, so it looks like something hasn't updated for the clien...

Re: PetEmote Addon - New shiny things
Hey, folks - life's been busy here, I'm afraid, but things are getting better. On the PetEmote side of things, I've done a quick test with 5.0.4, and found two calls to now-nonexistent APIs that had to be changed. I've changed those to the new functions and updated the ToC number. I've also added th...

Re: PetEmote Addon - New shiny things
Haven't updated the emotes yet, sorry. Right now, download Teigan's file. Hoping to have time to work on it this weekend, but no guarantees, thanks to car problems. I'll definitely get the new ones in before I make the new "release" version, though.

Re: PetEmote Addon - New shiny things
It definitely *can* be done, and I've been thinking about ways to do it some. The most flexible method would be for different families to be packaged as separate addons, which would "register" themselves with PetEmote. This would allow easier distribution, allow users to only download the ...

Re: PetEmote Addon - New shiny things
The "beta" is available on Curse now. It doesn't include the "default-emotes.xml", since the addon itself doesn't use that - from what I can tell, it's just used by/for the editor, and it's more than three times as big as the rest of the addon put together. (Also, it'd get replac...

Re: PetEmote Addon - New shiny things
Update of the update:
- Curse approved PetEmote, but it looks like something that happened that's keeping Curse's packager from automatically creating the beta version package. Curse staff and I are both looking at it, and when there's a downloadable beta version on Curse, I'll post here.

Re: PetEmote Addon - New shiny things
Status update: Didn't get nearly as much done as I wanted to, because my bros had the idea that we should surprise my Dad by all visiting him for Father's Day. I did get *some* done, though: - Created project on CurseForge. It's awaiting approval there. I don't think there should be a problem, but i...

Re: PetEmote Addon - It's not the end
That would be amazing! I have no idea how you would make it differentiate between skins within families, but that would kick so much butt! And if you can, that would also mean so much work! And if that's possible, sure, Rex, write all the demon dog stuff you want! I would like to see them be ...

Re: PetEmote Addon - It's not the end
May I take a stab at writing for the demon dogs? The addon utilizes the pet families, such as wolf, dog, fox or spirit beast, to separate emotes. Demon dogs are not a separate family. They're part of the dog family. The addon doesn't allow separation of different skins within families. A good case ...

Re: PetEmote Addon - Its not the end
I'll see if I can figure out what's going on with pets losing gender. Is anyone using the English version experiencing that as well? For German, I'm thinking the main thing would be the use of der/die and ein/eine with the appropriate nouns (i.e, those referring to the player character or the pet). ...

Re: PetEmote Addon - Its not the end
I'd planned on helping out with this, but Real Life got in the way more than I wanted it to. I may still offer suggestions and submit patches etc. As to the editor, it's written in I believe C#/.NET, and I don't know it. I think the free version of Microsoft Visual C# would be sufficient to build i...

Re: PetEmote Addon - Its not the end
Also, random oddness I've noticed. The DK ghouls act as though they have combat emotes, and if I remember right so do gorillas. Those would be the random things about doom and candles and yelling that they do while going into combat. Gorillas had the same ones the ghouls do. However, even though I ...

Re: PetEmote Addon - Its not the end
<3 Teigan. It's no problem at all. ethancentaurai is quite familiar with source-code technology, using it in helping with such addons as Chinchilla Minimap . He is concerned it may not necessarily need both of you to keep it up, but I'm sure you'll work things out ;) His contacts are on the previou...

Re: PetEmote Addon - Its not the end
I'd be glad to have some help! If your brother has used source-code control systems before, I'm planning to use Curse's git repository, and I could certainly give him permissions to check out and check in code there.

Re: PetEmote Addon - Final update coming
Hi! I'm Efindel, and after looking over the code for PetEmote, I've volunteered to try maintaining it. My own addons are all on Curse; the most relevant ones for this are AddEmote and ChatSubs . The core of PetEmote looks pretty simple, and most of it seems to be written the way I would have written...
