Could the "horns" be night elf ears?

Maybe it's one of these new, special druids' bird form, or the ghostly messenger of a night elf "druid of the talon?"

Could be could be any of those or heck some form of JC thing or anything! or a mini pet or some form of giant killer owl that is attacking japan and we need to stop it.......

From my model viewer they look like ears or horns.

For me it looks more like a bird from the emerald dream, so probably will be related to druids.

Yanno, the more I look at it, the more the entire body looks like a Phoenix Hatchling to me. The body and giant beak look almost identical to the minipets. So maybe, it may be a new minipet? But if we get a phoenix hatchling to tame..... I am soooo camping it.

Maybe it's a glow affect that was rendered then copied over, b/c I think you're right about the Phoenix...

There's a new skin in the latest build and now he looks like a more spirit-like version of Olm with a different colouring and weird green ears. I updated the original post with the new screenshots. Check it out

It looks alot like Olm now.... but I think Acherontia could be right, it kind of looks like it has night elf ears O_o ... can't wait to see more!

I think it may be probably be a druid form, considering in 4.2, these druids are getting new amazing skins we cant tame on a normal mob just taunt us.. cause blizzard doesnt want us taming druids or something like that.

It looks, interesting so we will see I was hoping for a fire devilsaur.. it fits.. mmk

Yeah, I definitely think, seeing the new ears, that it's a night elf NPC druid form (or messenger spirit) for one of the new 4.2 druids. I can't see any other reason they'd stick long ears on a beast

Pretty sure this is going to be the 'bird/owl' form of Aviana. If you did your Hyjal quest you may remember seeing her in her human form WoWWiki Page. Seems you are going to be able to turn into a bird form during a quest or daily quest in Hyjal and she may also appear in her bird form. Couple PTR spells with some screenshots to check out below

Well spotted. That's certainly not impossible too

The "ears" thing does suggest a night elf form, but I guess we'll have to wait. So far they look completely out of place on the model, so it's obviously not the final form yet.

On the spell 97241 I linked if you check the screenshots uploaded and look closesly you see that the owl form has the night elf ears.

That isn't an owl form, though--that's the old night elf slow flyer (and still a tameable bird). The one that Wain is linking looks like a whole new animal.

Wain seems very sure that this is a SB, though, which has me intrigued... Inside info by any chance?

No, no inside info at all on this one It just looks very much like a spirit beast (except for the weird green ears). When the OwlSpirit skin was first going to be used on Olm I said it looked more like a spirit beast skin. Noah said that it wasn't really all that spirit like (my opinion differs on that). However this owl skin reminds me of the Olm skin, but done in an even more spirit beast-like style, so it's the first thing I thought of when I saw it.

That's what people are postulating are ears or horns. But it may be just an artefact of the rendering process (WMV often struggles at rendering new things correctly) or may be a glitch with the model that they'll fix in the next iteration. Who knows? Well, Noah does but I haven't heard from him in a while.. he's been very busy

I wouldn't judge its appearance based purely on what we've seen so far. (i) this is the first iteration of the skin and may not be final, and (ii) WMV is terrible at rendering new effects. Even now Terrorpene looks like a rusty brown turtle in WMV. It's probably going to look far more awesome than that. And just about all spirit beasts are a derivation of a common beast, with a new colouring and some effects added over the top... I don't think it's fair to diminish it with what argument.

If Noah's of the mind that it doesn't look very spirit-y, then maybe it'll be a regular bird of prey? Either way, hopefully tamable. Woo green!
