Re: Amber Parasite tamable!
These are neat. Obviously a mistake, but neat. I'm still rather iffy as to whether they will let them stay or remove them, as their model is a bit "clunky" and underdeveloped. I can't help but think this may be made untameable in the next patch, at least until the devs are able to make the model/skin a little more up to par with other MoP models. You remember how Ghostcrawler is refusing to let hydras become tameable until they make the model better... Well they might have kept maggots untameable for that reason too. If ghostcrawler thought the Hydras were "ugly," wait till he gets wind of this. LOL. The models are pretty outdated, and at this giant size, they look, at least to me, a bit like a polygonal blob with teeth... especially when in bestial wrath. XD At least the silkworms had segments, legs, and more body color variation that gave them a bit more of a personality.
Not saying it will for certain be made untameable, just saying you might want to grab one while you can, as there are some plausable reasons for them to remove this.
(But I do like whipping it out when fighting a DK, sayin "YOU THINK YOU GOT BLOODWORMS?!")

Eh, they look about as good as a silkworm to me. And these really do have interesting markings and such.

They did a full-on maintenance and never touched them, this is a good sign I believe.

Every time I tamed one, I did, so I figured I'd mention it, since others had reported premature deaths as well.ImmaGoku wrote:I honestly never had this problem.Kalliope wrote: not gaining health after taming

Better late than never.. but I got one too ! Very nice and the size is just right. I mean, if it shrunk to tiny size I think the graboid is less appealing, in my opinion that is.
I also like the porcupine, but the size is just too small. Even size can make you like or dislike a certain pet, again in my opinion of course.
Thanks to this thread that I became aware of this tameable pet ! thank you very much !

Just to note if you have trouble getting these, or you accidentally kill them when they spawn:
Feign Death. If the mob resets, they will spawn more amber parasites once you attack them again.
Anyway, I use this pet in dungeons when tanks piss me off. >_> I had one tank who was just rude to everyone, so I pulled it out, and he would sit there cursing me out, so my group would whisper me saying STAMPEDE ON COOLDOWN! and such, lol.

My worm's health is fine - he tanks the Pandaria rares without any problems and actually has slightly MORE health than my tenacity-specced cat (260k vs 260.2k). He never randomly died either.
Re: Amber Parasite tamable!
Kalliope's referring to the fact that RIGHT AFTER TAMING, instead of gaining health like a normal pet, it stays at like, 2-3k health, so whatever spawned the parsite and the other parasites that came with it will typically kill it.
It has normal health, etc. Just immediately after taming is bugged.

Yup, mine stayed around 7k immediately after taming, which is around the health that they have in the wild.Myzou wrote:Kalliope's referring to the fact that RIGHT AFTER TAMING, instead of gaining health like a normal pet, it stays at like, 2-3k health, so whatever spawned the parsite and the other parasites that came with it will typically kill it.

Now that I think of it, I had that happen too when I tamed mine.

Re: Amber Parasite tamable!
I got mine last Saturday and named him Sickness. It’s obvious they didn’t intend this since unlike all the other worms that got a burrow animation, this guy doesn’t have one yet.
I got him for the sake of having him if they make him untamable again but the ugly thing grew on me. (I think it’s in his prasidic nature or something.) I have to say, he is the life of the party. My guild couldn’t stop talking about him in vent when I pulled him out for a raid. :3 They are so goofy in their own disturbing way.
I can see them making this an official worm model and I wouldn’t mind if they did. But whatever Blizz decides, I hope everyone can snatch one up fast.
P.S feel free to pm me if you would like a cross realm invite to check my server for bugs. I only play ally though.

Re: Amber Parasite tamable!
Well we had a long Tuesday maintenance and these are still tameable... seems they really were intentional (aside from size) or Blizzard just isn't too worried about it right now.

Thanks for checking, Rawr.
And, giving the benefit of the doubt, remember that you cannot see the beasts with the parasites marked if you don't have the daily! Plus, as always, screenshot proof is always a good thing, especially if it's your first post here and we can't vouch for your credibility.

Np, I always check this sort of stuff myself if I can.

Re: Amber Parasite tamable!
i just tried. the amber parasites spit out by the porcupine on proudmoore
said 'this beast is not tameable'
any other proudmoore hunters want to confirm
edit: finally worked. took several tries before getting amber parasites that didn't give me the 'not tameable' message
