Acherontia, that trick is such a great find!
Hope you can find a trick to make this permament without fearing the pet's death cancelling the ghost wolf skin. I always hated it that i wasnt rdy in time to tame the Grimtoten ghost wolf

works like a charm (on the wolvs atleast)
Going to check the Felscale Crawlers. I'll keep you up-to-date.

Indeed. I think unfortunately that it'd have to be an entirely different mechanic (GO, GRIFF!), because this method keeps the
appearance -as a
buff -.
I too was really upset to hear I'd missed the Grimtotem window of opportunity, so for now, I'm really happy to be able just to have it here, even if just sitting quietly in Org (AWAY FROM GAMON
)!

What do you mean?
Any PET tamed is permanent, but the
appearance (IF it is a lost-on-death
buff ) will be lost if the pet and/or player dies.

Just tested this, if u die with the "showcase" pet out, the coolness factor goes away.

Yeah, I did say in the original post--dying clears pet's debuffs, too

Hmm, so if you tame the Lone Hunter with this mechanic, does it unlike the Griff tactic, clear the buff aswell upon death?

It shouldn't, as the knife-through-head buff does persist after death.
I'll go have a shot with an Oily wolf quick; it hadn't even occurred to me when I tried this that it could be a new way to quickly tame these.

Excellent question!
I will check this after taming a glossy flamingo ^.^
I will update my guide to say acherontias method is only temporarily, yet still awesome.

Yep tamed the lone hunter with the above.
And yes still keeps the buff , after pet death and your death.
Tested with Gamon. =D

All that is left is testing wether the ghost carrion will stay with buff .
after that I will have a nice lineup about which pet to tame this way and for which its only temporarily.
great work everyone
PS: Tamed shiny flamingo

Idd, I'm going to keep this thread going as a guide, and keep it updated. It makes a nice alternative taming method; I must have tried Lone Hunter for about three hours last night with no luck, but this method will be a one-shot win

Isn't it hilarious how hunters always keep finding new tricks in taming unusual pets?

Yeah, I think I'll be updating my forum sig to an image of me + Ghostpaw "Where there's a will, there's a way."
I can always update the "..and a ban." later if I get attacked by angry GMs >.>

Works on the Felscale Crawlers.
It doesn't show as a
buff , so might stay after death, gonna check it now.
EDIT: the glow goes away after you die with the pet summoned (shame).
