WoW UI/addons?

Unread post by Shade »

Anyone have recommendations on the ones they use?

Here is what my screen currently looks like:

Image

I am interested in trying something a little less cluttered. I've seen some nice frame-bars-ul or whatever they are called in screenshots while looking around here.

My biggest concern about them is thus: what about when you are on a quest/dungeon and you have to mount up and use a certain set of actions that are given to you. I tried a ui once that was messed up when I had to get on a quest-mount.

If you know of any that work without messing up the in game mounts, could you make a recommendation perhaps? I normally use Curse for my addons.

I recommend LUI (images on the site). It's a nice, non-cluttered customizable UI, and vehicles (quest mounts, WG, and such) work just fine with it. :)

I also exist on DeviantArt.

That's how my UI looks like right now. Whenever I'm in a vehicle with special skills, they will go into the spots on my bars between 1 and Alt+5. So far I haven't had any problems with vehicles.

To list the most important addons I use..
Dominos - skillbars and XP bar
Stay Focused - resource bar
Raven - buff and debuff bars
Shadowed Unit Frames - unit frames

If you'd like to know about any other addon you see in the ss, feel free to ask. There's way too much to list them all at once. <.<

I just use Bartender to move my buttons around...other than that, I have no problems with using WoW's UI.

Note to self: Disable GS...I really do not like the whole addon...I originally just had GSlite, and I like it way better than the full thing...it's too clunky.

Here's mine, just the way I like it.. all bulky and cluttered up. <3

You're probably better off sticking with your current UI, it looks neat and simple. Although, if people post their UI pictures here you might see an addon that you think looks good, that's probably the best way to find new addons.

My UI :3 Not the prettiest, but I like it. If it isn't this, it's default. *shrug*

Some noteable mods --
-Icehud
-Coolline
-Chocolate bar (plugin bar up top)
-Sunnart viewport
-Dominos/Button facade

The rest of my mods are small handy things that you don't really notice or see but make me very happy, like Baudbag, bankstack, etc.

Don't have a recent piccy to show, will take one later, but I use:

SpartanUI - with party frames and player buffs disabled because of the next two
Satrina Buff Frames
Grid
Omen
Recount
Cooldown Timers
HideBuffs - gets rid of the Blizzard buffs up in the corner.
Paranoia
Scrolling Combat Text - though I think I have that disabled atm because there was something funny with it. Might check that.
TidyPlates
Range Display - Target and mouseover only

I do still have a chat box that annoys me, but WIM doesn't cover everything. So I have three boxes - the one that shows loot, people coming online, system messages, npc scan, say, emotes; combat log; and a chat box that will show things like raid/party chat, whispers, guild chat - but these only appear on this box if I am in combat at the time they were sent. I did this because if you're in a fight, you can't stop and open up a WIM box to see what someone is saying. Well, as a tank I found you couldn't. Trade, general, local def - they are all WIM boxes only because BR is a cesspool half the time and it's generally not worth even looking at those channels. I find myself regretting it every time. It's gotten better since Blizz brought in their post timer for them.

Here's a shot of my UI. It works for me and is a lot cleaner than what I used to use.
