Last minute debating on race changing to Dracthyr
Wish I posted here sooner to get some insight. I’m a Vulpera Hunter, and I already racechanged once from Draenei to Vulpera when I moved servers to join my current guild. Initially picked Vulpera cos they’re really cute and their animations are just way more polished than even the other allied races, and the make a camp anywhere racial is just flavourful and great.
I’m currently debating tho, on whether to race change to Dracthyr, and not even really for the dragon form, but for the updated and many more visage customisation options. I’m aware that they’re really just an option of being a male blood elf or human female, and I’m not a fan of the old belf male animations, but the customisation especially the pretty cool beard options and I have been putting my current transmogs in belf male from my Vulpera, and many do look much better on the belf model.
I’ve played around a class trial one, and the most immediately feeling I get is the way Glide helps with Disengage. This actually feels pretty cool, gives more aerial control (like disengaging to break roots but immediately glide so I don’t move too far).
I’ve heard some weird bugs with trying to stay I. Visage form in combat and feign death tho. Hoping to hear from anyone playing Dracthyr Hunter if that’s true?
I’m also banking on the future Midnight expansion giving a race model update to Blood elves which would likely affect Dracthyr visages too.

Re: Last minute debating on race changing to Dracthyr
In my head, my main hunter is a shapeshifter-because she has been.. lets see... Blood Elf, Dranei, Worgen, Nightbourne, Pandarian, Void Elf, Lightforged Dranei, Night Elf and just recently Dracthyr. I have other hunters including undead, goblin, troll, vulpera, gnome, mechanome, human, and kul tarian.
Out of all of the races that I have played, Dracthyr is my favorite hunter class. The jump and glide is super helpful when navigating the world and with disengage.
Transmog kinda sucks-I play as a female and I think the model looks weird.
I have my visage set to being humanoid out of combat and dragon in combat )its actually really useful for my person to boom into a dragon, easy way to know I've caught aggro on something when out and about.
I have not personally noted any bugs with visage or feign death-but I may not have known what to look for.

Re: Last minute debating on race changing to Dracthyr
I've wanted a Dracthyr hunter since they were originally introduced in Dragonflight.
I race changed my main the moment it was available. I loved being a Panda, it is one of the best animated races in the game in my opinion, but I really, really wanted to be dracthyr. I don't regret it at all.
The good? Having Wings is wonderful. I don't die nearly as much as I feared I might by gliding when I shouldn't. It's saved my bacon lots.
The down side? As is obvious, not getting to see my armor much because I prefer the Dragon form.
The other 'downside' is I use Soar way more often than my old mounts. I kind of miss seeing them to be honest, but Soar is so freaking awesome.
I do wish they'd put the cool down on Wing Barrage back to 2 min, and let us keep the Tail Swipe too. Still think it is stupid that just because a Dracthyr isn't an evoker it suddenly forgets how to use it's tail?
I also dislike that they nerfed glide so much, it isn't super bad to notice unless you also play evoker.
The screams from the forums of how 'everyone ' was going to be forced to go dracthyr because of their 'unfair' abilities was clearly over stated because I see very few dracthyr non evokers in LFR, in my own raid group, my guild or out about adventuring.
Also note non-evoker dracthyr still have some issues when it comes to voice emotes and warnings. Some emotes don't work at all, and the warning that you don't have a target is currently still missing.
As I'm rarely in Visage form, I can't say I've seen any issues because of that. Sorry!

Re: Last minute debating on race changing to Dracthyr
Well, y'all convinced me! Here's the new look Kour is now sporting!
I'm still working on a Dracthyr form that feels right, but I have a feeling I won't be able to really get one. I kinda want them more beefy or something D:
Now that I think about it, maybe even give us some CLOUDSERPENT-like options for the dragon form would tilt me to finding a look just right.

Funnily enough, I kinda headcanon my Hunter like that too, especially cos I only racechanged AFTER BFA and I got the N’zoth blessing on my head that I still haven’t cleansed. So now I’m headcanoning that my Hunter is a lowkey believer in the Void and through ‘infinite possibilities’ through the eye of N’zoth, has been shifting into different forms or timelines where they’re a different race lol.Shade wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 6:32 pm In my head, my main hunter is a shapeshifter-because she has been.. lets see... Yeah it’s the human female model. The animations always felt really off to me. Kinda robotic. I wish Blizz had improved the animations when they updated the model visualsTransmog kinda sucks-I play as a female and I think the model looks weird.

Re: Last minute debating on race changing to Dracthyr
I’ve thought once about having a dracthyr as one of my max levels, but I realize I have my evoker and my main dracthyr will stay evoker. I wanted to talk about my faction change experience with my main which I still play to this day. It’s not dracthyr but it’s still worth hearing
During shadowlands, I wanted to make a survival hunter and I made a worgen, I loved the concept of being a beast and fighting together as a pack. I loved running wild alongside my pet. After a while of playing this character, nothing was feeling right even though I love playing worgen. Worgen felt weird when using a 2h weapon, I wanted to use one handed weapons or fist weapons but of course not possible with Hunter. I had a thought in the back of my head for a while. I thought about faction changing into a horde race that had a cool appearance and good racials for hunter, since I prefer to play horde. One day I decided to transfer this hunter into my main realm, and ended up faction changing into an orc right before dragonflight prepatch hit. I may have reset lots of zone accessing and had to redo some quests, but I don’t regret it at all. As for a worgen character, I decided to make it an outlaw rogue and mog the weapons into claws. I know it’s off topic, but it was a big decision to spend money on changing the character.

My headcanon is that my Dracthyr is the visage form of a fairy dragon.

Did the transmog I really wanted to do when I found out Blizzard didn't let Dracthyr be Monks, which is such an oversight! Dragon Monks! Come on!
Anyway, so cos Survival can transmog the Brewmaster weapon with the unique over-shoulder idle, here's my simple Monk transmog. The rest of it is the Blademaster's Lively Beads and Trader's Sarong.
And finally a dragon form color combo I quite like.
