"Best" Pet for certain roles?

For wow classic:
I tried to "crunch" the numbers and if I understand it correctly (I probably don't) the "best" pet for:
* regular questing is a cat with "bite & growl" and dash
* dungeons a cat with claw
* for raids a wolf with furious howl
* for soloing elites a turtle with shell shield
* for laidback questing a boar with charge (although there is no charge rank 4)
* for aoe farming a gorilla
* for pvp scorpids with Scorpid Poison or the cat Broken Tooth
etc.

What are the strengths of the other pet families? Especially owls & carrion birds seem to be popular, but I don't understand the allure of Screech. I guess in a hard dungeon (Strat, Scholo etc.) or a hard raid it might help the tank with mitigation.

Or aoe tanking, but isn't thunderstomp better?

screech is better for aoe threat than thunderstomp. thunderstomp has a long cooldown
screech does a decent amount of threat on single target as it is low cost and spammable (no cooldown)
screech reduces the damage your pet takes, so is good for soloing
for pvp apart from broken tooth the bat from ZG is the other mob with a 1.0 attack speed, and is a screech pet, hence its popularity
