I am 88% sure that we will see new tameable hydra by the time Patch 4.1 launches. This is the first PTR build, yes?

lets see...3 slots left open, 1 for sambas one for blue madexx and one for hydra.
Hmmm, guess I'll have to go do a sweep of my stables and clear out a few muchers.

I was on the phone with my bf when I read this thread, and squee'ed into his ear!

Yes! Thank you Noah, thank you so much! If there was anyone here who didn't love you, (not that I think there was), they love you now!

I can't wait to tame Gesharahan on Cerah! I still remember freaking out running into her while questing in the Barrens waaayy back when she was like level 15 -- this hydra almost ate me! Now, Cerah's looking forward to giving her a second chance to make friends.

I just hope 4.1 comes through before my final projects/exams break from WoW in late March/early April. If it comes in after, at least I have something to look forward to.

Hydras non-exotic!? YESSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only one I wanted a hydra on is Mozzy and she's MM (her secondary spec is a waste of time). Red hydra, mummy is coming!

How wonderful that a special animal like this will be available to everyone, that REALLY makes me happy. :)

Taluwen wrote: Gonna have to disagree on top DPS. BM is still below SV and MM. I tested the SV on a dummy and BM was like 1k or so lower than SV. Thats not love at all. But we'll see when the buff comes.....though I'd much prefer Hydras going exotic than the buff, since BMs are about our rare beasties. We share a lot with the others as is.
Everyone's mileage will vary based on player, gear and skill, however, the reports have been that both styles of MM are top (hard cast Aimed Shot number one and Arcane Shot MM number two), BM after that, and SV trailing behind after the nerf they took.

Also, dummies are a bad way to test DPS really as you're missing raid buffs as well as boss mechanics, etc. It's pretty widely accepted on EJ and MMO-Champion that dummy testings are to be taken with a grain of salt.

Edit: On topic: I'm glad hydras won't be exotic and I hope they'll become tamable on the PTR soon. :D

This is awesome, hydras aren't my No.1 wanted family (stags have that honor) but they are really cool (and anyway, any new pet families is a bonus in my opinion).

I guess they won't become tameable until the stats/talents/whatever have been sorted, but it might be worth checking the Sholozar spirit hydra if no-one has already.

Hmm. I think it might be useful to throw a caution into this discussion. While my ghost hydra isn't currently exotic, we know that hydras have a lot of work left before we see the final version on the Public Test Realms. It could be that they are intended to be an exotic family. We won't really know until more is in place for them. So keep that thought in the back of your mind.

I'll be fine if they go exotic, but it would be wonderful if they weren't. :)

Yup, I agree with this. It wouldn't surprise me at all, but I'm hoping that Blizzard continue to spoil the non-BM:ers with cool pets (like OLM! ). If not...*shrug* I'll have to clear out some space in my Goblin's stables. :)

Not to mention Careful aim, dummies remain above 80% so MM will always give you much higher readings than what it would actually be in a fight.

My thought exactly. The only thing is, and I know things can completely change, is that we already have an exotic with the 5% crit buff, in which the hydras ability was introduced as. It would be a shame to 2 exotics with the same buff, unless it wasn't an exotic, even though they look kinda exotic..

I totally forgot about that talent and I thank you for mentioning it as yes, it is a key reason why MM will give a higher reading on a dummy. :)

Thank You Mania :3

and Tyger, I've noticed in heroics, SV beats me almost always even though I outgear them. Only time I beat them is if they're being derpy.

I'll play BM even if it ends up being the worst of the three specs. I don't see how making a pet exotic would add "more love" to BM than its already gotten. A shiny new pet doesn't necessarily fix DPS issues. It's like giving a baby a pacifier.

And to toss this in here: http://www.simulationcraft.org/406-6/Hu ... 1_372.html

A hydra family page has been added to Petopia with what little info we currently have or might guess and a BIG warning. But I thought it might be handy for the skins, especially since the data was already summarized so nicely in this thread.

Let me know if I got anything wrong. I need to do a full DB update (and I owe several of you PM responses and whatnot as well) but I hope to catch up with those things after my husband leaves for the Flash Game Conference and GDC tomorrow.

To the above, yay I'm useful!

---

Hopefully they will be exotic, they make no sense being normal.

Does anybody have a screenie with a hydra beside them handy in standard THIS IS MA HUNTAH PET? I want to just have one for the list post so people don't have to post dig. Against each race for size comaprsions would be awesome. I'm asking as the PTR nearly killed me downloading last time so not sure if I want to bother again.
My main's a Druid so I of course love critters. That counts for something right? Right?

Rest in Peace Yasindra/Ryai

and babies hush after they get the pacifier.....xD Almost all skins we've gotten mostly is all shared by all specs. Would be nice to get some love.

I agree Aria. They dont make sense being normal as its an exotic-type beast. Normal beasts are cats and dogs.
