Now, I need you guys' help! Think of this as a contest of sorts.



This is my RP Pony, whose name will likely end up something like Nick of Time - call her Nick. ;P The thing about Nick is that she's got a time-related power...but I don't want to make her bronze! However her current colors remind me of citrus fruits, and as much as I like the combo I think it would best suit a different Pony. So I'm going to drop Nick's description in this here thread, and I'm gonna ask you all to help me out with two things: picking a color scheme, and making her cutie mark.

Nick is a curious pony indeed. As much of a wanderer as anything else, the Unicorn pony is slight of frame and altogether unremarkable, further adding to the image that she is, most unfortunately, too far gone for the rest of us. Nick suffers from what can casually be called 'temporal displacement', although she's not so much unstuck as she is there on purpose. Her magic does not enable her to 'time travel' as it were - rather it snatches her mind up and plops it wherever - whenever - the hell it wants. As a result, Nick is prone to outbursts - but only outbursts from the past or, less often, the future. She can be seen cringing hours after harsh criticism, sobbing the day before a tragedy, or interrupting her present train of thought with bits of speech from other times...and as such, is seen as absolutely bonkers. Despite this she serves as a somewhat reliable way of vaguely predicting the future - at least, what will happen to her.

I'm not sure if I should add an ability to warp when she's startled/embarrassed/maybe just in the case of extreme emotions, since her 'magic' is pretty lackluster. ;P Her in-the-works cutie mark is a pocket watch, but I'm not sure if I like that, so feel free to suggest other things. Her name doesn't even have to stay, if you find something that fits a little better. And, as said before, she needs a new color scheme. I'm not opposed to using bronze or gold or other colors like that in small amounts(i.e. her eyes, or bandanna, or hair stripes), but I don't want her to be brown/white/cream/tan/gold/bronze like every other time-related character.

FOR YOUR SANITY I've wiped her reference image clean so you can color it in yourself if you'd like(you can do this in Microsoft Paint or any other program) - you don't have to, of course, if you'd rather just make a palette that's fine too. :) But I need color specifics, so I can see how they look on her exactly, so words alone won't do.



So I mentioned this is a contest kinda. If I end up liking someone's suggestion enough to use it, I'd be glad to draw a pony(or another pony) or something else for them and color it much like I did Blaze here. I think I'm going to start considering pictures like those commissions otherwise, so every other pony requested will just be MS Paint from now on. xP Sooooo if you want a 'fancy' doodle of your pony, it might be a good idea to give this a shot before I start evilly charging for them to save up for plane tickets. :)

Then again, ponies like the ones I've been posting recently will still be free or whatever, so I'm not forcing anyone to do anythin'. <3

As another question...how much do you guys think paintings with similar quality to this and this would run? $10? $5? A bazillion?

Based on the colors in this image:

Blue green and orange-yellow seem very time-like to me. As for the cutie mark, the pocket watch works great, although a tan hour glass would also look good.
I hope you don't mind my use of gradient!

Aaaaaah Lupis that is soooo pretty! Gradients are just fine, i can do those easily enough. :) And I picked a pocket watch because a very very popular background pony in the show has an hourglass and I don't want to incite the wrath of crazy Doctor Who/MLP fans. xP I may change the pocket watch to gold for contrast reasons, since the silver is a little hard to see on teal fur - although some highlights could fix that easily - but otherwise that's beautiful and now I owe you art. xP

Okay, so I know you're probably happy with Lupis' pony, but I had some free time (I got braces screwed with, so I have a day offa school. Whoot!) and took a stab at Create-A-Pony. I googled hourglass, which led me to this:



Hourglass Nebula. So I tried to take colors similar to that and go along that route. It's a less obvious idea,but still totally related, because it's in the shape of an hourglass. Or something like that. So, we have my idea of a pony. Whee. Yeah, there's just a clock with the numbers 12, 3, 6, and 9 on it, if that makes sense.

I looove that color scheme Azu, I may have to yoink it for a different pony of mine. :P I decided to go with Lupis' color scheme since it suited Nick really well, but that's a fantastic idea nonetheless!

Ryan's cutie mark is SO DIFFICULT for me to draw for some reason. It shouldn't be hard to paint a cute lil' plus-shaped guitar on his butt but nooooo.

THIS ONE ISN'T FUNNY ANYMORE because I forgot to screenshot Ryan's AIM avatar back when it was relevant. Caboodle tamed Snarler a few days back and he was named Lemmy after Ryan's mancrushidol. The uh, human Lemmy was making quite a similar expression in his icon, hence the fuss over getting a screenshot.
(You can tell I haven't drawn wolves in ages.)


Another Pony OC who I'm actually applying for, so technically he's not mine yet. He's a mail carrier much like Derpy Hooves is, but only slightly less silly. He's also a major night owl and tends to doze off wherever in the middle of the day. Against a tree, in the street, into your ice cream - wherever. Despite having a job he's very happy with(and good at!) he's still a(dun dun dunnn) Blank Flank. He might stay that way forever(!?)...at least until I can find something suitable for him. Also a MLP name generator gave me his name after I put in "Postal Pony" so I found it appropriate.
