It was just a reference to colour mixing and the eye. The three of them together looked like a pixel. If you go cross-eyed you can combine two to make either cyan or a murky brown. But if you could combine all three... well, it'd probably look gross. But in theory it'd be grey-white if the colour balance was perfect.
Not going to lie, I'm surprised I found someone who doesn't at least know Jak & Daxter. Well, at least in a gaming community. Not that there's anything wrong, I just assumed it was a big enough title/series that pretty much all gamers would know it.
For those who don't understand my reference: Jak powers up by using special life-forces around his planet, called eco. When all 4 (red, yellow, green, blue) are combined, the create white/light eco, which he can channel to extraordinary effects. It's my favorite PS2 series (maybe even Playstation series altogether) ever, and that's over God of War, Prince of Persia, Sly Cooper, and Ratchet and Clank. If you ever get the chance to check it out, I'd highly recommend it.
