I figured out how to do this but its tricky. You gotta go to Isle of Thunder, Ihgaluk Crag and do some trickery with the buff you get that turns you into a Saurok.

When you are transformed into a Saurok, have your pet activate an ability, such as Dash or Spirit Mend (my example involves Spirit Mend). This will cause your pet to pop out of the transform it was in and then re-transform as a saurok that matches whatever one you are. (credit to wowhead comment reply from Huanggay for this info: http://www.wowhead.com/spell=136461/ski ... k#comments).

So this is what I had to do:

1- Begin casting Essence Swapper. This pops you and your pet out of transform.
2- During the cast, you will eventually re-transform. Your pet will eventually get the saurok look that you transform into at this step.
3- Immediately have your spirit beast cast spirit mend. This will pop it out of transform.
4- The pet should re-transform again (into a saurok that matches your saurok from step 2) before the essence swap cast finishes.

Repeat until you get the desired look (can only swap once every 30 seconds due to spirit mend CD). I found 3 looks (although there does seem to be some armor variance. I've seen the frilled saurok with two different leg/tail armor styles):




Edit 1: This probably works with any pet ability you have to trigger, such as worm burrow or chimaera breath, but I am going to do more testing and update this post here.
Edit 2: OK it appears just about any pet activated ability will work, even Last Stand of tenacity pets or Dash on Ferocity. So you don't need a spirit beast.
Edit 3: Now that I know you can use different pets, I got some odd results with the size of the transformed pet. I used a Nether Ray and a Direhorn, and their re-transform (step 4 above) was small, which resulted in a tiny hati saurok. However pets like worm or spirit beast resulted in normal. It seems the transform size scaling differs per pet. Testing now to see if any pet results in a large transform scale.
Edit 4: Found a bunch that scaled smaller (Thok, Chimaeron, Tekton) but none so far thats bigger.

Edit 6: So King Mosh and Thok both scaled small, however arcane wyrms scaled differently (Acroniss was normal, Spirit of the North was small). I did about 25 pets total, and I saw a smattering of normal, small, and smaller. My advice is take a bunch of pets out there to make sure you get the size you want.

Really wish for anything dragon like - like Razorgore at least - i tried it with him but of course using the essence swapper breaks the mind control and you get like a split second of the beam

also don't try any of the Zul'Drak quests where you get to control an abomination or the other stuff - just doesn't work

Re: the mystics, there's no set time to go to make sure you have them up, but there does appear to be a rotating list of mobs that swaps on the half-hour. It was very frustrating, especially with me not wanting to join random WQ groups in Highmountain and abuse their CRZ and take up their group spots, but nobody runs "garrison" groups with the new CRZ system, haha. I counted six different types of rotating mobs and objects in my camp, but I suspect there's at least one other one, or we would have a definitive "go check at X o'clock" for the mystics by now.

None of the other mobs I saw dropped anything useful or were marked as for a quest on wowhead, which makes me extra annoyed by the whole situation, because I actually had to get two waves of mystic spawns to get the essence of pure spirit, as they stopped spawning before I got my drop the first time :|

About that Ihgaluk area and the Saurok costume, wouldn't it be possible to abuse this by making your character wear a costume that overrides the Saurok skin?

EDIT 1:
Every toy costume is overwritten by the "Skin of the Saurok" costume, and falls off temporarily when you do any action outside of moving. However, I had a stupid idea that involves another player.

1. You (Hunter) Walk in to Ihgaluk Crag, just on the border (Sidestep to swap between zones)
2. Friend (any class) uses a toy costume
3. Friend uses Reflecting Prism on you. Friend is now a Saurok, you are whatever your friend was.
4. Immediately make your pet do its move, so it changes to its normal look and then back to your look.

Everyone I know is currently leveling or gearing up, when CLEARLY this trick is more important, else I'd post results. Will post again when I get it tested, since I have someone coming shortly.

EDIT 2:
Can't seem to find the right timing, and the Saurok skin overwrites the Reflecting Prism. Need to try different things, since I now lost my fleshbeast skin and my Sunwell is cleared.

EDIT 3:
I can't time it at all. It might not even work. I would be insanely sad if this got fixed next week, I want my little fleshbeast back.

I don't think anyone's mentioned this yet (if they have I apologize) but I believe I vaguely remember a Horde-side quest in Hellfire Peninsula that gives you a felhound and makes you kill things with it/feed it to make it crap so you can rummage around for keys. Would you be able to use this pet?

I can confirm that the Valkyr quest in Silverpine Forest and the Simply Abominable quest in Icecrown do NOT work for Hati, which is unfortunate. Agatha in Silverpine is a guardian and does not have a pet bar, and the Abomination, while a pet, is immune to the orb.

I really want a Valkyr Hati, so if anyone else knows any quests involving Valkyr as possible pets, I'll try to test them.

During the eatern plaguelands questline there are some that have buddies come along. These include Tarenar, Gidwin, and Vex'Tul. I especially want to know if Hati can become Vex'tul. Does Hati retain greeting voice clips?

Just a quick note, Ghostcrawler makes huge alt skins. Left is Thok, right is Hati (after being swapped with Ghostcrawler).

If you want the biggest pets, Ghostcrawler makes them huge.

Get/make the trinket and get an engineer friend to go duel you and poof your pet into a chicken. The "up to 15 seconds" is a damned lie, so have them cast it at 1-2 seconds remaining of the swapper cast.
