The Lone Hunter with his toy
Re: The Lone Hunter with his toy
Hey all....new poster here. Thanks for all the hints and advice...tamed The Lone Hunter this morning.......worked like a charm (took about 4 tries to time it just right). Named him Scabbard.

Re: The Lone Hunter with his toy
Thanks guys! First time poster, never time lurker. I've never been on the forums before. I mostly just use the Petopia site to do research. So thank you to everyone who makes this site possible. Also, thank you to everyone who contributed information on this. I was able to tame this pet on both my Hunters in the same day. I am leveling a new one and it was fairly easy to solo @ 72 considering the dmg Serpent Sting does.

For my other Alt 85 Hunter, I had my friend bring his mage to help since my Serpent Sting DoTs were doing too much damage. After about 15 kills/tames we were able to get it done.

My main is a Warrior but I sure do enjoy Hunters. Thanks again for all the info.

Hail Thor-show thy might. Let thunder roar and lightning strike!
Hurl thy hammer into the fray. And let thine enemies know fear this day!
VICTORY, OR VALHALLA!!!

Re: The Lone Hunter with his toy
Managed to get the timing on this down to within milliseconds. So far I've managed to get it tamed right as it died only once, started the revive and stopped before it finished. Logged out, saw the wolf but without the knife on the character screen. Logged back in, called and revived pet and sword wasn't there. Still trying......
Note: Just managed it the third time I tried after posting. When I did the mob died but it didn't show the PING when they normally get tamed. I'd been spamming the revive button to start that like I'd seen others trying in these forums. I noticed the mob instantly disappear, so I stopped the revive and /reload'd. When I got back in the pet still wasn't in my currently held pets, but when I revived bam, he appeared.... Anyw=one else have something like this happen to them?

Re: The Lone Hunter with his toy
I love my Lone Hunter with the sword in his head. His name is Ned. If you get it, +100 internets to you. The sword in the head is why he's called Ned. Haha.
I adore wolves and wish I could tame all the unique wolf models and just keep them happy in my little stables. Lone Hunter is just special because...well, with a sword in the head at all times, how could anything NOT be special?

Part of Dark Magics, lvl 25 Horde guild, casual, helpful, don't raid, mostly help people and hunt pets.
Part of Dynasty, lvl 25 Alliance guild, casual and hardcore (your choice, no one forces you to raid, but you can), very helpful
Come on over if interested (Runetotem US, Horde name Sarantha, Ally name Ellysetta or Valeraud)

Re: The Lone Hunter with his toy
Hello everyone, it's been awhile since I've posted. So I'm looking for a cool looking pet for MM and this is it. I really want the Lone Hunter and i've been trying for at least 40 minutes now. Just had a question
If I actually see the PING during the kill/revive method, does that mean it failed?
I did notice something too (i'll have to screenshot or test again) I tamed him as a regular tame and his model seemed fairly large. I tamed him on a failed kill/revive method and he seemed to scale a lot smaller. Anyone else notice this?
The method I'm attempting to use, is as follows: (taken from wowhead comment)
Power Auras setup:
Nothing fancy here, really.
Open Power Auras by typing /powa
Hit New
Midway down in the new window, open the Activation by list and choose Debuff
Tick Enemy Target near the bottom. It's written in red.
Click the Timer tab and tick Show.
Play around with the position and size sliders until you're happy and tame that beast!
(Taken from Wowhead)
Facts:
Immo trap ticks for approx 600 without any gear except my gun.
Lone hunter dies approx 14.9 seconds into the duration of Immolation Trap
My tame beast cast is 9.9 without any gear except my gun
Thus concluding I can use trap launcher with Immo trap to pull, cast tame at 4.9 - 5 seconds (Immo trap duration) and spam revive at < 0.5 seconds on tame.
Does this look about right? I'm having a hard time pulling it off, but i seem to be close!
