I have a bit of a religious rant here, dont go flaming me for what I say say or belive in:

if its true that the guys been studying the bible for 50 years and states the raptures tommorrow....I dont want to go to hell yet
let just say that Even though I beilve in the lord with all my heart for some reason I feel quezy about it? iv'e tried accepting jesus into my heart im just not sure if hes there yet....
and if its true the rapture happening tommorrow, well I better start reading the bible all the rest of the night, I want god to know that I love him, I dont want to burn in a pitch black fire full of negitive feelings for not accepting jesus...
again id like to state these are my beliefs, dont flame me for them

No really, people have been predicting that kind of stuff for as long as the idea of a ragnarök has existed, and nothing has happened so far. It's gonna' be safe.

Related to that, I find it disturbing how parents will abandon jobs and life funds, and even say to their children, "Sorry, we don't think you're going to make it to Heaven. That's God's Will for you." Just kind of irks me. I'm not really religious or anything (I've joked plenty of times about the supposed Rapture: "Hey, why bother? We're all going to die tomorrow!" for example.) so I may not be able to understand blind faith people can throw into this, but really? Is God really -that- much more important than your own kid? (Rhetorical question, I suppose. People who would leave their kid for something like that in the first place would say yes.)

Actually my dad was offering to help me with my religious probelms, its kinda my fault for saying I wanted to get more comfortable with the belief, because out parents, despite being really religious didn't take us to church

I wouldn't worry too hard about it ruby. If this man is correct, then there's not much one can do about it. And besides, I highly doubt he's correct. As said by others, he's made predictions before and they have not come to pass. Many other Christian leaders have rejected his proposed time as well.
I feel really, really bad for all those families out there who are liquidating all their possessions on this man's word, and I am quite thankful for the number of funds being set up to help them once this is all over.

I may not be religious but you guys are getting pretty harsh against another persons beliefs. Your going down a road that leads in terms of thinking about the big world-wide picture, war, death, and chaos. Your pressing buttons that are extremely touchy and rather unstable and i politely ask of you to keep harsh remarks to yourself and not make a big deal out of it if you dont believe in it. You know its not going to happen, just get on with your lives. If you care about the people who do believe in it, dont reprimand them for believing in something regardless of how unlikley or insane it is, rather, help them and try to with polite guidence (so long as they are willing) bring them out of it. Dont slap them around like a helpless mutt.

It's also true that many most Biblical scholars, who have been studying for just as long, think that he's full of s*** (I don't think those would be their exact words, mind you; I'm paraphrasing).

Actually, early Christians got persecuted by the Romans because their faith challenged the unquestionable authority of the emperor. Only later did the faith get twisted into a basis for unquestionable authority.
There's plenty to bash about the history of Christianity and the church, for legitimate reasons, but please don't falsely claim that the faith was just conjured up to reinforce unquestionable authority.

That's a good idea; just do so for a reason other than the claims of some octogenarian who has already predicted the end of times some years ago (as cowmu pointed out).

I don't think you were being addressed. Besides, your comment was very tame in saying that you have problems with the religion, but not the people; that's a far cry from making a cartoon portraying the Islamic prophet Mohammad as a terrorist suicide bomber.

Thanks, Cialbi. I was afraid I had actually done something really stupid in saying what I did. I'm not exactly throwing trash at anyone, just saying a tiny bit of what I feel about the subject. It was not directed at anyone spesific either.

They're definitely not. I'd count the more extreme sides of... "furryism" (that's so not a word) as more of a personal identity thing. True, religious folks can identify themselves as such, but I think of it more in the gender-identity sense.

Anyway, branching off from the main rant for my own personal rant: I am not a furry, I have very little interest (of any sort) in anthropomorphic animals, but I've had friends on all ends of the "furry spectrum" (from being primarily interested in anthropomorphic creatures in art and RP and fantasy, to believing their soul was equine and not human and identifying as such, to being interested in fursuiting, all the way up to the yiff side of the story), and overwhelmingly, when the word "furry" comes up in conversation with internet folk who aren't, the go-to definition of the word seems to be "people who like watching/participating in animals have/having sex" and it just ain't so.

"Furry" does not mean "animal porn" any more than "anime" means "animated porn" or "WoW player" means "weighs 300 pounds and lives in parents' basement". And yet people I've talked to in the past about the difference between "furry" and "yiff" ("yiff" being the word for anthro-porn in the furry community)—friends of mine for several years, even—CONTINUE to use "furry" as some sort of insult, the way a jock in middle/high school calls someone a geek, or a homophobe would call someone a queer. It's not an insult AND it doesn't mean what you think it does, so knock it the [expletive] off.
