Re: Potential new hunter pets in WoD
To whoever was looking for a green raptor: there is one in the files.

Not sure where it would be, though. Either somewhere in Tanaan, or the jungle parts of Gorgrond.

Well Clefthooves are mammals and we have Rhino already hence why they are put together. Kodos, Thunder Lizards and Mushans on the other hand are reptiles, so they might be grouped as Thunder Lizards.Nachtwulf wrote:I am happy for clefthoofs tbh. Never liked the kodo model, although I wouldn't say no to a mushan.
Though I do like the hairy clefthooves better than the scaly ones.

Question, is it just the flightless thunder birds being rumored tameable, or is it both flying and the flightless?

Both will be tameable: Teroclaw and Teroclaw Chick.PorrasouxRex wrote:Question, is it just the flightless thunder birds being rumored tameable, or is it both flying and the flightless?
Re: Potential new hunter pets in WoD
I've updated the image for the new orange kaliri. It actually has its own model, with fire effects. I'm not sure how true WMV is at rendering them, but here it is anyway:

(You may need to force reload or empty your browser cache to see the change)
The head doesn't appear to have fire, but it does have a thin yellow aura around it (similar to what hellhounds have). It's not obvious with that background, though.

I ran across the 'firebird' during a quest in Spires. It was summoned by another mob and wasn't classed as a beast (I think it was Elemental.) I'd imagine even if it wasn't it'd give the 'already controlled' message, as it was labeled as a 'Guardian'.
someday I'll find someplace to host a sig that isn't stupid money-grubbing photobucket

Re: Potential new hunter pets in WoD
as for the bird. i expected that.
For the sea snake. yes please dont be a bug! Q_Q
ive wanted aquatic pets sins the first moment i saw the sharks and frenzies. and even more once cata hit with all the new models.
many aquatic minipets are out of water as well as The Talking Fish in a mop instance, so i dont see: "No. its not possible." as a viable answere.

I suspect we'll get aquatic pets (in a bubble similar to the non-combat pets) in the eventually South Seas/Azshara expansion.
Just have a tome drop from a mob in one of the zones teaching you to sustain a water bubble to sustain a pet. Voila.

Whatever the case, I suggested two things: 1. A spin on the creature, and saying that it is perhaps not directly a sea serpent, but a more magical version capable of levitating. It just looks similar. I mean.. they have monitor and lizard battle pets using the warpstalker model, and giant isopods using the cockroach model.
And the second idea was them skeleton-swapping. I feel like the sea serpent model and regular serpent model are similar enough that they can perhaps swap skeletons. You know? Keep the model, but give it the normal snake (python type) skeleton, which would make its animations not the floaty kind, but the "slithering across the ground" kind. I'm not sure if it's possible, but I do know that, to a certain extent, skeleton-swapping is possible so long as the creatures are similar. And if they can do it, they can make sea serpents with the normal serpent animations, which would make them more than fitting for taming.

Re: Potential new hunter pets in WoD
In all honesty here if they just shrunk the sea serpent a bit it would work fine as a pet. After questing on the beta with it there is nothing wrong with the model since it just uses the manaworm animations.

I highly suspect we'll be seeing that fire god Kilari used as a spirit beast, so don't give up hope just yet.

I love it! I hope this is intentional! I'd probably keep that same colour too, as it goes wonderfully with to the armour. Plus, I think I can abide the broken run they've gotFangz wrote:new warwolf found in nagrand.
